Dude, you're a ****ing moron. No one is talking about the PS3 setting the Japan sales a light. We are talking about creating a niche userbase within Japan for PS3 games to sell and will FFXIII create a 20mil userbase? Of course not, but that is not what anyone is saying. All the PS3 needs is 5-7mil hardcore userbase in Japan for their games to get respectable sales in. That's it and FFXIII, Versus XIII will provide that.

PS3 doesn't need to sell more then the Wii to be successful. The 2 systems are so diversly different from one another that only the hardcore idiots on the internet bother to even compare them.

You're living in a dream world if you think FF13 and versus will propel the PS3 to 5-7 million consoles sold, even FF7 couldn't push more than a few Million Playstations.

The only Final Fantasy games that should matter are FFVII and Final Fantasy X, as every subsequent Final Fantasy game that followed those games on their respected console didn't sell as much as the first entrant.

Final Fantasy VII got that many sales because it was the first Final Fantasy game in 3-D. Also, Final Fantasy VII came out 2 years after the PS1 was launched, while FFX came out a year later after the PS2 launched.

It should be noted that PS1 and 2 had over 5 million in console sales in Japan by the time those two games launched and were already the leading consoles, it is highly unlikely that FF13 and VS. will be able to propel the PS3 as far as some believe

I was a GC and PS2 owner, but obviously Avinash has some deep-seated hatred towards Sony for crushing his precious GamCube. I can't see any other reason for such ramblings and blatant fanboyism. This gen he thinks the same thing will happen but in reverse.

 Avinash, the PS3 will smash the 4 million or so GC's sold in Japan. That I can guarantee. I'd put it in my sig for your benefit, but I think I'd get made fun of for making such an easy prediction.

HA! If  you were to tell me that Wii is all about fascination and obssession pretty much shows that you have never enjoyed a good Nintendo game. Right now I could call some friends and tell them "let's play Smash Bros or Mario Kart" and most likely they would because those games have LONG staying fun factor in them.

Saying that a grown man playing other Wii games besides Wii Sports must not have friends is pretty ironic argument. A PS3 fanboy probably HAS less friends because most PS3 games involve one player (MGS4 anyone? FFXIII??? Heavenly Sword?? shall I continue? :) The Wii on the other hand requires people to be physically present to enjoy a gaming session unlike the PS3! Now, if you consider online friends real friends well then.......... ;)

You'll notice my comment was intended to be sarcastic, PS3 may beat the GCN, but the fact is it won't climb much above it, maybe 5-6 million total, I was pointing out its current relative position to the GCN and how much these games will actually help it, not much, i'm just interjecting some reality into the discussion.

Of course your comment was sarcastic, haven't you heard that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit? You could have rationally come in to the topic and said "I don't think these games will give much of a boost, I see PS3 selling 5-6 million consoles in Japan." and civil discussion would follow. I'll predict the PS3 will sell at least 8 million in Japan and have added it to my sig. That's a realistic prediction unlike all of yours (well except for 50% marketshare, that's possible).

 If I had come in and pointed out why I think PS3 won't be a success and how it will be only marginally better than the GCN without sarcasm, and pointed out how its sales have been far weaker than the GCN you and others like you would have accused me of being a Wii fanboy, unable to take off his Wii glasses, since that would happen either way I chose to use sarcasm.

PS3 will not sell that much, maybe more than GCN but that's nothing to write home about, perhaps 6 million if they are lucky, eight millionis totally unrealistic, it can't even get over 100K in sales one week, also about my predictions all you have to do is look at how it is crushing the PS2 in sales, even with its supply constrained and that it has been availible in all three major markets , splitting its already low supply and you will see why it will easily pass the PS2 and PS1 and PS3 combined
