I'd laugh if Sony put it up there with a virus that bricks ps3 of anyone who tries to run it

yea all the Sony haters would laugh 2 when somy hass to pay out, creating viruses is ilegal and if traked back to Sony (which hakers would) then the law suites would begin, it would be like the rootkits all over again.

How would Sony have to pay it, and no1 can come forward without admiting to piracy, there's no way Sony would have to pay out

Well, not really sure about this law, but I believe some countries allow back ups. One would just have to pretend they also owned a real copy (and provide proof....they would just buy a used copy).

Pretty sure, sony wouldn't create virus to begin with....so lets just stop assuming what would happen.

They'd have to prove the virus came from Sony which would be almost impossible since they wouldn't be stupid enough to upload it from one of their own computers, and then the person coming forward would be admiting illegal activity, even if it was a back up why would he be running it if he has the original disk, blu rays don't scrach easy, so he'd have to buy the disc untracably and break it just to pretend he's backing it up to come forward, like I said Sony wouldn't have to pay it

Honestly I don't know why some laws allow back-up copies of software, kind of paves way for piracy. I think it is one of those I own this object, I have the right to do whatever. Same excuse with hacking a console.

Nothing wrong with hacking a console, it's posting the hack online that does the damage

I might download just to spite the Sony fans that jumped on the anti-piracy bandwagon once the PS3 was hacked.  Or, I can do it on a schools computer so I can upload it without fear of penalty.  I'm against piracy but these Sony fans are tempting me.

Edit:  This was meant as a joke to poke fun and the Sony bandwagon folks that became Anti-Piracy Crusaders when the PS3 was hacked but didn't care when the Wii, 360, and any Ipod variety were hacked.  It may have been a crappy attempt, but I tried.

Sony itself would have to leak the game itself. Then downloading the game wouldn't exactly break the copyright as the one who owns the rights released it for free anyways.

Ask Crytek.

but the person who did leaked it faces 10 years prison and 75,000 dollars fine.

For Crytek and EA they have lost well over 100 million in lost sales

SONY would be face less since of its difficulty, size and that anyone planning on getting Crysis for PC have invested in an rig that can take it and are willing to do such an thing and know how.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

I don't think this will be a big problem, look at the SIZE :-0

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Just do it! I'm encouraging you. Even though it'll be completely harlmess to Sony, you'll still get responses like this but x10 worse:

3Dless Killzone 3 torrent available only 22GB

More bad news for developers, publishers and probably honest gamers. We’re hearing reports that Killzone 3 has been ripped and uploaded to torrent sites for dishonest gamers to download and run on their hacked PS3s.

The file is apparently the EU version of the game and weighs in at a hefty 41.4GB (with a non-3D version available at roughly half that) so hopefully the size will be enough to put off most people who might otherwise have been tempted. If not, this is the first major leak on Sony’s console and is sure to be causing some distress behind the scenes at SCEE and Guerilla Games.

I hope people don't use this as an excuse for the modest sales. :-p

This won't have much of an impact. 360 has much bigger piracy problems and manages to do just fine.
