nice looks like ps3 is the home of the detective drama!

Heavy rain
LA Noire

Let there be more, please!

You write a statement with such an authority and then put a list of 2 games... lololol....

I think PC is best served on this front though, I hope it sells good and this type of games become more common.

And I wouldn't be hyped at all if it was anything like that. L.A. Noire has an open world, but it's a narrative driven one. There isn't a bunch of things you can do on the sideline, it's just a world you can explore. It's there mainly as a backdrop for the story, with almost no side missions. There'll be a few, but they'll be few and far between.

The meat of the game is in the detective work, where you interrogate witnesses, suspects, etc., and you investigate crime scenes to find evidence. It's all about solving the crimes.

The game started out as a PS3 exclusive and Sony was paying for the development. I don't know how, but somehow it ended up with Rockstar as the publisher after some time. L.A. Noire is no more a Rockstar game then Starcraft II is an Activision game.

Well, you can be hyped for this game. There isn't a law that says you can't! To me though, it looks identical to the stuff Rockstar has made over the years and I've been burned enough times by their hype machine to be skeptical.

And yes, I'm pretty sure this is a Rockstar game... But we seem to be using different definitions of what makes a company’s game a company’s game so whateva. Also, it just has that overhyped feel to it… I can FEEL it. And rockstar has really shifted into gear. I mean, it took like a month before RDR launched for people to overwhelmingly sign up but here we have it at only a month and a half! Rockstar is outdoing themselves this time…

Whatever then! I don't see how it's really overhyped though, there isn't a whole lot of hype to begin with. This is the biggest L.A. Noire thread I have seen on VGC to date. But if you can already feel the overhype, I guess you couldn't possibly be wrong.

Now that you put it that way... it isn't really hyped up. I mean the only hype we see is users (horrible ones that that) putting LA:N tags next to Guild Wars 2 (what an insult to LA: N!)

I actually feel bad for what I have said :(

BTW, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the bolded. Rockstar makes a very particular type of experience that all their games have elements of EX: Bully to GTA to RDR etc. I expect this game to end up very relatable to past offerings

There wasn't a whole lot of side content in Red Dead Redemption either. Well, scratch that, there wasn't a whole lot of worthy side content in Red Dead Redemption. There was plenty of thrilling plant collecting for us to unleash our inner botanist.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

The graphics look amazing though.

Gameplay wise its like GTA.....without the sandbox freedom.

Red Dead Redemption had all those random encounters, not to mention a bunch of objectives you could go for. I thought it worked well, but it's way more than what you will see in L.A. Noire. L.A. Noire is meant to be played for the story, and that's it.

At least it's not next to Patapon 3. No one on earth is hyped for it and it's still overhyped...

whoa incredible
