Simple math: if those 537k were all sold in 2009, then the 360 would be at 1181k (because 537k plus 20% = 644k). But it sold less than 537k in 2009 (because some units were sold in 2008 and 2007), so it is lower than 1.2 millions.

...just 814k-537k=277k x 120%=332k 814k=1146k

The only little error here is the fact PS3 was the best selling console in Australia in 2010... and it sold ~320k (317k)... so 360 sold less than 332k, less than 320k.

Your and my maths are the same...that's the only little difference (PS3 > 360 in 2010 AU).

do you think PS3 can sell more than DS(end of 2009=2571381 in 2010?if yes, whatever

if not,i don't think 26.5% can be best selling CONSOLE(Wii 360 PS3 PS2)

in the end, read this again,i get it,will you?

"According to  Sony  , the PS3 dominated local hardware sales, making up 26.5 percent of all  console  sales in the region last year--the highest percentage share of any  manufacturer  ."

Yeah. I believe. And 2,571,381 is limetime not 2010... in 2010 PS3 sold more than every other console in Australia.

And why people here thrust when "According to Microsoft" and not when "According with Sony".

For comparison the Microsoft statement:

By comparison, Sony's Redmond-based competitor, Microsoft, declined to offer any Australian-specific hardware details in its release, revealing only that the Xbox 360 experienced its biggest year to date in 2010 and saw a 20 percent increase in total sales over 2009. Microsoft Australia declined to confirm total Xbox 360 sales to GameSpot AU, stating that it "does not release regionalized data."

26.5% between six consoles (PS3, PS2, 360, Wii, DS, PSP)... that's 2010 figure... so there are just 3 manufactures (Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft)... PS3 plus PS2 plus PSP = highest percentage share of any  manufacturer in 2010.

Just PS3 done 26,5%... if PS2 plus PSP done more 15-20% combined... Sony won.

you got it,so 26.5% of PS3 didn't mean PS3>Wii/360

Why not? 26.5% of PS3 means PS3 > Wii or 360 or PSP or PS2 or DS.

PS3  dominated local hardware sales with 26.5%.

Other way to see the case:

1. PS3 - 26,5%
2. DS - 23% (fake)
3. 360 - 22%
(fake)
4. Wii - 16%
(fake)
5. PSP - 8%
(fake)
6. PS2 - 4.5%
(fake)

1. Sony - 39% (fake)
2. Nintendo - 38%
(fake)
3. Microsoft - 22%
(fake)

Just a exemple (fake).

Well according to the site 1.6 million consoles were sold in 2010 (http://au.gamespot.com/news/6298189.html ). So, in 2010, about 424k ps3 were sold in Australia.

Edit: all the data reported is from Gfk.

LOL I forgot PC... between 7 6 hardwares PS3 topped with 26.5%.

And another UPDATE.

[UPDATE] According to data trackers GfK Australia, out of the 1.1 million PS3 consoles in Australia, 921,969 were sold at retail and the remainder were given away through various promotions, like the deal that saw Bravia TV buyers receive a free PS3.

So 180k PS3 was sold by Bravia deal.

Edit - Fixed.
