Three other Mario games on Wii have performed equally poorly judging by reviewers.

Super Mario Sluggers - 70%
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics got 67%
Mario Party 8 got 63%

Reviewers are fine to trust with most kinds of games, but for "party games", I generally wouldn't trust them too much.

Agreed. Can't trust them on such gene when they have no friends.

I played it single player until now and I really enjoy it. I don't understand the "hate" for this game. It's 4 games in 1. It has a nice Selection of Characters from the Mario/Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest Universe. It has secret paths with special missions. It even has a final boss enemy. (How many sports games have one ...)

I bet, that the game will be even more fun, if I play it with more players.

This is what bothers me.  Lol, brand recognition gone awry. 

It has Mario in the title so I will definitely buy this.  That's because I am a mindless drone that buys anything that has Mario's name in the title.  Millions of people will do the same thing. Mark my words.

@The Won  people rely on review sites cause maybe they dont wanna get ripped off. Crazy idea, right!! and since Ninty doesnt have demos for their retail games, how the hell is one supposed to know how good the game is or not??? You cant get that from watching video games. If someone has that much disposable income where they can buy whatever game and not worry about the quality more power to them, but im on a gaming budget and I have better games to buy, hell ill just dig up my copy of Mario Power Tennis since everyone seems to think thats better anyway.

@lordtheknight  i would have taken what you said more seriously, but Wii Sports has a Meta score of 80 with 60 positive reviews and no negative ones, so i dont know what reviews you've been reading.

im getting sick of all this "reviewers are evil and hate Wii crap" If 60 people review a game and 40 of them think its meh, then has it ever occured to anyone that the game might just be meh??? Maybe some people just have crappy taste in games and dont wanna admit that and get pissed when a game they like gets shot down. But I find it hard to believe that several different people from all over the globe are just conspiring against one particular system/game. Are there some fanboys??? Yes but they are few and far in between. Reviews are not broken, maybe the readers looking at the review is broken(stop reading the score, and read the whole article).

@Galaki  if you have to get other people to play a game to make it "fun" then the game is not very fun to begin with. "Games should be able to stand on their single player alone". Just saying
