We should give credit where credit is due, GG pulled nothing innovative here, this gameplay as everyone knows was born on the Wii.

The internet calls it pointer controls, I think Wii FPS developers deserve the credit for such thing, guerrilla is just following the train.

That's why thos thread title is misleading.

I agree that i wouldn't call it Innovative, but what they have done you cannot find on the WII. Killzone is the only series that feels like it was mean't to be played on a controller because of its heavy feel. I am amazed that they pulled off the slugish life like movement with motion controls. Something WII Fps developers have not done.

If you had any idea of what you were talking about I would take you serious and give you examples, right now I'm just going to say, there is, you shouldn't state things as truths if you're not familiar.  Just saying.

The only WII fps i have yet to play are the recent COD and 007 game. I doubt from what i have seen in reviews that they actually have a heavy wight to them. Now mind you, i have not played all the fps games extensvly, but i play a lot of them to try them out because i make it a habbit to play every fps, its my favorite genre. There is no game that plays like killzone on any system, the closest is battlefield bad company 2.

I don't see why you have to come out and say "if you had any idea", it really is insulting that you think i am so wrong that you don't have to prove anything. Please if there is a game that plays like killzone on the WII and i don't know about it yet, let me know. I will play it and most likely love it.

Well if you had then you'd know, instead you're either lying on the forums or lying to yourself, take your pick really.  And I didn't highlight play like Killzone, you said have weight, and that's what I highlighted.  And that is just garbage.  Sorry to be really blunt about this but in any of the FPS leagues on the forums people know me and people know that I know my shit so there's really not a contest on this.

If you've played CoD like you said you have you'd know the gun types have weight, you can't spin around with a light machine gun like you can with say a pistol, it goes by size, the bigger it is, the slower the spin and weight to the gun, and has been that way since World at War.

What contenst are talking about? Who plays more FPS games? I just stated that i do play FPS games on WII because you accussed me of not. There is no contest, and no need to show off you FPS glory on the forums.

First off, theres nothing to lie about. Killzone feels a LOT different than any COD period. I am not talking about the guns, but the way you move and the heavy feel of the crosshairs. I have not played black ops on WII, but i know for sure that WAW plays nothing like killzone. Theres a misunderstaning here, i mean that no shooter plays like killzone and as far as i know there isn't. In Cod games, you move extremely fast and its as if you are floating in the air. You climb ladders like you are some kind of monkey. Its not like killzone.

This has happened before where you think i am some sort of liar. But why lie? What do i have to lie about? That i don't play FPS WII games? I am starting to believe that you just have never played killzone. Because if you have, you would know what i am talking about and this conversation wouldn't be such a big misunderstanding. And seriously stop accusing me of lying, its really annoying and is just baiting me to flame you because you can't keep a discussion without calling someone a liar.

I posted this on KZ3 forums.

This game appeals to people who suck at games, it is full of things the remove any need for skills and are just 'I win' buttons.  Plenty other removals of good things too, as well as adding many bad ones.

- Squad spawn is gone, as is the best method of teamwork.  Nobody wants to halt their squad somewhere while a member runs from where a spawn point is, probably lose a member while waiting defeating the point.

 - If the beta map any indication GG still do not know how to balance maps.

 - One hit kill melee/brutal melee in genral, because running direct at someone who is shooting me in the chest should always be my best defence?

 - Near perma cloak marksmen with the silenced gun, because invisibility that only lasts a while isn't hugely powerful already?

 - One hit kill body shot snipers, why bother to rely on skills going for headshots right?

 - Objective games rewarding kills (which you made simple to get due to noob things like 1 hit melee kills, perma cloak or one hit body shot kills) more than objective stuff, sitting back and camping or just whizzing around to melee everything will get you more points even if your team loses the match.

 - The poor amount of sprint everyone but infiltrator gets, encourages camping since breaking between cover is higher risk.  Tacticion especially suffers for helghast since need make a long as hell run to the nearest spawn capture point.  Plenty of 1 hit kill snipers to pop at your stamina drained behind.

 - Spawn point system, you really have no idea how to balance spawncamping do you?  These are not it, squads spawns and balance maps is how you do it.

 - Custom matches worthless because not ranked, so cannot even turn off some of the crud added.

 - No server browser, because joining 4 games in a row with only 4 people per team and leaving instantly every time to look for a fuller game is so what I want to spend my time doing.

 - You know I could go on, but in short you removed the need for skills with stupid abilties or weapons, you didn't fix any of the problems with KZ2 just added a bunch, you made several problems with KZ2 worse and you took away many option for players.

GG to use an old saying you are all graphics and no gameplay, or rather poor gameplay.

...followed by a screenshot of a cancelled pre-order, for the lols.

thanks so i must suck at games then even though i loved kz2 (sp mode only) as well?? why on earth do you have to generalise us all into the same bracket....

fact is kz2 multiplayer was boring and not enough people was on the servers, the sessions was too long and it took ages to level up, why the hell would i want to play hours on end just to level up??

I reached top rank in a week.  A few hours a day only.

Y ou have to realise that your taste of how fps gaming should be is not how everyone feels, right now i know i am happier with kz3 multiplayer than kz2 multiplayer, i just hope the sp mode is not as bad as some reviews are making out...

Haha, I knew this was coming. I've been accuse dof the same elsewhere but you see, I'm really not an FPS player at heart despite what my kz2 stats portray. I've just gotten accustomed to having an MP FPS on the side to keep me entertained even in slow game seasons. This FPS has been Kz2 for the past 2 years. A real FPS fan would probably have gotten more games but I haven't bought any.

For the above reason, I usually start my MP FPS games a "slow" i.e sucky. I started CoD4 with a KDR of 0.9 and fared even worse with an 0.7 on KZ2As you can see, with how much I sucked at the start of KZ2, I should've quit. WHy didn't I? Game was too damned addictive. I've now burnt 88days of my life on KZ2's MP and many in the community call me a "beast" but it took me 20 days, yes 20 days to get good.

This is not the case with KZ3. I started off with a 1.50 KDR this time but after a couple hours, I'm already tired of the MP and just can't play it anymore. Flaws:

1. The biggest dissapointment of all is the lack of custom games. Did anyone complain about this in KZ2? No. WHy did GG get rid of this? that feature made KZ@ by far the best FPS this gen IMO. If you didn't like "x" feature, you could play a game without it, you want pistols only, you got it, bodycount only? you got it, 4v4? you got it, etc. WHy did this freedom have to go? People who've been playing shooters with matchmaking wouldn't mind but I just cant play those anymore.

2. As an off-shoot of point 1, game modes are too short and this time, we can't edit them. TDM aka bodycount aka, Guerilla warfare is 5 MINS LONG! 5 pathetic mins....I probably spend the same amount of time watching the loading screen as I spend playing. Operations is just a gimmick mode that will surely get old quick as its just cnh snd with the same cutscenes over and over again. Warzone is the only viable mode but the individual objectives are next to impossible to do under the time limit so in most cases, the time is up before you can even get to the action. For someone who got used to playing warzones with 15-30 mins/round in kz2 like myself, this game is impossible to play.

3. Brutal melee. You know you have a problem when it's better to run up to someone to melee quickly instead of actually shooting.

4. TSPs. Spawn camping was bad in kz2 when you had n00b tacs. It's worse in kz3 now that everyone knows where the spawns are. Some of my best killstreaks are from camping spawns...thats the best way to find people anyway. It doesn't help that 2 out of 3 TSPs are close to the ISA base. When you're up against a superior team who manages to capture all 3 TSPs, its base r4pe till gameover...no way out in kz3.

5. F'd weapon distribution and other things. This is mostly because of the fact that the marksman has an assault rifle now...wtf? This one, I just cn't comprehend. Someone still needs to explain how they came up with the ingenius idea. These guys can scramble the radar and stay invisible too. They also have a silenced machine pistol so their cloak never gets exposed and can camp corners invisible to melee you when you walk by...yay! The most selfish class gets the biggest upgrade.Dont get me started on the infiltrator.

6. No recoil, no bullet spread = super accurate weapons. Add in ribbon gimmicks and you have a twitch shooter now. It's almost a first to spot issue  ala COD now. No toggling bullets, no controlled bursts, just zoom in and hold R1. Guns like the STA52SE are pretty much 1-burst kill ala cod4's m16 and MW2's FAMAS.

7. Kz2 was an action packed game. KZ3 = hide and seek. When I spawned in kz2, I instantly knew where the action was and ran there immediately. In kz3, I'm always searching for the action only to get melleed in the back or sniped before getting there. For this one, I can't put my finger on exactly whats wrong but somethings just isn't right. Could be the reduced player count but I just dont know. It certainly takes chunks away from the "fun factor" for me.

7. The controls. This one is not such a big deal as I could get used to it but its just sad when a company abandons their original vision that they defended for so long. It's like those of us who stuck with them took a kick in the face but that one is philosophical. The controls seem more responsive to many now but are actually worse than kz2's in one regard many may not notice 'cept they played its predecessor in depth: for some reason, it feels like one ate a bag of snails when trying to move and shoot at the same time with an automatic weapon while in kz2, you stayed light on your feet.

//end rant. Kudos to anyone who read the whole thing.

My opinion:

1) Guerilla has confirmed custom games. Not sure how they're going to do it, but they did confirm it on the KZ forums.

2) Agree there, usually takes forever to get into the action, if you can find it.

3) You can't just run up to people and brutal melee them. I've tried, and sometimes they can still shoot you a few half-seconds after the Brutal Melee gets activated. I've killed melee'ers as well, so it works for both sides.

4) This happens in all games with set spawnpoints... BFBC2 as well. Nothing you can really do about it but leave game [which IS a valid technique... If you're being spawncamped, LEAVE. Don't know how often I tell this to people...] but it's better than spawn grenades and stupid teammates using up the two spawn grenade slots, or spawn grenades right next to an objective, making it chaos, but not fun.

5) Every class has a counter. The tactician can counter the Recon and Infiltrater classes using their ability. Plus, it's better than snipers who camp a mile away; at least now Recons are effective, because it takes so many points to invest.

6) Agree there, when you improve the controls = there should be more recoil, Guerilla... not less.

7) When you develop a game, and more people are attacking the concept rather than defending it, you know you need to change it. "for some reason, it feels like one ate a bag of snails when trying to move and shoot at the same time with an automatic weapon while in kz2, you stayed light on your feet." Lolwut? I don't really know what you're saying here, but if you're saying that in KZ2 you were light on your feet, while in KZ3 you are more like wading in a swamp well... You may need to get your controller checked. About 90% of people like KZ3's new controls, so Guerilla did their job right.

This is of course my opinion to your replies, so feel free to read if anyone has the attention span

@point 6

How does the tactician counter the recon? You realize that you cant scan them right? Sure tacs can scan infiltrators but my complaint was more in the line of how they're undetectable by even base bots and can sprint indefinitely while no one else can sprint 1 m.

@point 7

The "bag of snails feel" is a reference to the fact that one feels immobile when trying to fire a weapon while moving in KZ3. It's not really something that can be explained. One has to play both games for a significant amount of time to notice.

Dont get me wrong, even though I got used to the old controls, I don't mind the new ones. Controls are something I've always adjusted to. My only complaint with the cahnge in controls is somewhat philosophical as I explained before. Decreasing bullet spread, recoil and increasing aim assist are a problem though.

Where did you get the 90% figure from? I'm just curious.

Looks like Kylie has expressed some other points I even forgot about. There are other annoyances like the arcady points popping up everywhere but those are minor. In 3 months after release, we'll know whether GG really improved or not because thats probably the time frame when people start to figure out how to exploit the game. This time, we cant even ban the overpowered BS well I shouldn't say "we" as I'll be boycotting this one.

Just tried the KZ3 beta last night with move controls.
I used the default settings because I just wanted to get into the game.

At first MOVE was really hard to get used to. I couldn't get used to moving the camera while strafing. However, there was a moment when I eventually got it. And it was amazing. I still have a lot of practicing to do... but someone like me who never really liked controllers for FPS, this is a much better way to play.

Anyone else try it?

try adjusting your setting it does makw it much easier to use

I mentioned this in another KZ3 thread earlier but I tried using move controls on the open beta, but for some reason i just couldnt figure it out. i thought i would just jump in and play and that it would be very intuitive, but i found myself staring at the sky or my feet most of the time. i couldnt figure out what the appropriate dead zone should be and how sensitive the pointer should be as well. what killed me was it would take time to turn initially, but once i did start turning he would just make a sudden 180 degree turn. so yeah, i went back to dualshock controls after trying it out. but im guessing i just need to practice and reach that "i get it" point which i certainly did not get to last night.
