I just read that father of the Playstation was first made promoted to chairman and group CEO of SCEI and then he retired on June 19.

Thats surely can be due to the failure of PS3. so how u rate this Kazuo hirai.? i believe it is his first x-mas.? So what changes he has made... Has made any stride in getting back the exclusives or keeping the studios with him strong.

 I am not a very avid follower but just a bit curious... don't see such analysis here.. A little reading i have done here shows that things have not improved much but this x-mas PS3 has beaten the expected sales and will surely reach 8.5million where most optimistic people were not expecting greater than 8 million. So this is a good sign.

 But wot about post x-mas, how will he manage to keep the sales high and above XBOX 360...

Any strategy you see from Kazuo Hirai.? and how u rate his strategy against Ken Kutaragi. and finally how good Kazuo will be for Play Station Brand..

Just think something other than games and sales prediction should be here too..

I can imagine if Kutaragi was in charge PS3's situation would be in grave danger.

IMO, I think Sony was going to be fine with either Ken or Kaz. Kaz made some sacrifices, that maybe Ken would not of made? i.e. no emotion engine etc. But If Ken was around, then I'd feel sales would be a little slower than they are to date.

@rukusa: You really need to do something about your sig. Its WAYYY to long - when I look at one of your posts, and see 80% sig - and 20% post - its not a good sign.

I also like the way you have the PS3 / PSN bolded/in black, and the 'Wii' in light gray - so its almost invisible - classy! Want to swap them around? ;)

I just figured since the PS3 is black, and the Wii is white, grey was the closest color he thought of that wasn't invisible.  Why does it matter to you?    Are you trying to tell him what to do so your preferred console is bolder?

How u say very good.? has he brought any new game or exclusive or IP or studio for PS3.? or something more on the bigger front of developing the PS3.. I just read that he is from US... but PS3 is doing worst in America.. i think very soon may be before the end of this year more PS3 would be in europe than in America ever after PS3 getting launched in europe around 5 months late.

Cant wait for Stringer to go so we get the truth and not the Stringer spin. Unless Stringer makes the ps3 a success it'l all eventually come out in the wash. Kuturagi was supposedly subjected to severe interference with the ps3 from Stringer. The anti Kuturagi nonsense has been carefully manufactured by Stringers minions.

Not THAT bad, considering America is one country, while Europe is a whole continent.

After the slow start,quite good...he has done good things in PR,lowering costs and price and keeping good relationships with developers.

Kaz has done a pretty good job.

Got mods on UT3. Acquired Evolution Studios (motorstorm) for $32 million. Got Haze. Continued good relations with Square and Konami. Got Europe rather quickly.
