The developers and publishers care about the current rate the software is selling when basing their decision.

 

The software numbers is the thickness.  The hardware numbers is the length.  If you want to look at it that way.

 

Industry cares most about software numbers.  Fanboys care most about hardware numbers.  At this point, the difference between the PS3 and 360 is a basic tie and will probably continue that was for a while.  Whomever is in 2nd and 3rd place is not going to change anyone's gaming experience at this point beyond being a silly measuring contest.

 

And yeah, Sony can't stuff the channels this long.  Ever since the slim launched, we have heard it.  Sony sells to countries difficult to track.  Ioi has said that himself, so I don't know what the big argument is.

It's always good to check facts before making statements.  Neither the PS3 or the 360 is kicking the crap out of each other at the moment.

Xbox 360 wants to Kinect &  PS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

I love to see people here saying the "shipped numbers says nothing"... because the VGC adjustments was made based in these shipped numbers after all.

Just check the numbers... without "shipped numbers" VGC was 360 over 52m now and PS3 below 46m.

The shipped number gap is irrelevent.  Sony and Microsoft are not really interested in the shipped number, only the public.  Sony and Microsoft, care about sell through.  That is the only time that they will not see there product back.

Sony, MS , Nintendo cares about both, the shipped numbers make them money while the sell through increases their userbase.

Yea, but 360 is also experiencing shortages. Shipped numbers are innaccurate when MS is selling off almost all of their 360's and struggling to meet demand, when Sony is stocking up for the 2011 year, and not selling as high of a ratio of consoles (sold/Shipped Ratio)

MS had shortages in December in the US only. Stocking up for 2011? lol that's a new one. where are they putting these stocks?
