Forums - Nintendo - Red Steel 2. WTH happened???

I have both, but the biggest problem is the game was too short.  It's too easy to get it used because it is short and fun so you finish it quickly.  It's much harder to find ther original used.  There was also less compitition for that time of games when the first came out compared to the second.

Ubisoft happen to Red Steel 2. They simply didn't give a damn about it after spending the money to have it made. They didn't push it, hype it, etc.  They took to long to make the game as well after the original title came out. They released one horrible commercial and then washed their hands of it and then tried to blame customers as 3rd parties always do.  That's what happen to Red Steel 2.

It doesn't have online with auto aiming. Many kids love that.

And it also requires you to stand up to play, and unless it is a pick-up-and-play game like Wii Sports it won't be much successfull. Standing, playing alone sucks.

I don't remember having to stand up to play.

True, I played it sitting down.

In my mind, RS2 was too repetitive. I found myself getting bored despite changing scenery; it was always go to area A, face a group of baddies, go to next area, rinse and repeat. Very little variation on that formula. If it was perhaps more sandbox-ish it may have done better.

The BuShA owns all!

So you played with highest sensivity levels? I played it in the "wide" mode, so I could have more control in the angle I wanted and also the strength of it. It played really good, but I had to stand up otherwise I would hit every single thing that was around me.

first RS had online 0_o

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

funny enough, the multiplayer aspect brings in a lot of replay value. Red Steel 1 brought something new to the table, and then used it poorly. That brillant gem of an idea is still there but not even the developers would go back to it.

I was excited as heck for red steel 2, then they drop the bombshell: no multiplayer.

The ONLY reason people would have their wiimotes on high volume was for the killer mode. The idea for audio feedback was neat but was only a perk. Red Steel 1 showed promise that maybe someday a game would come around and make you use sound to react to the game.

I rented wii party for the same reason. A rumor that one of the games makes use of the wiimote's speaker.

That damn controller is advance, even in 2011. They're aren't many games that make me glad to use it though.

So Red Steel 2 could be a good game, (didn't play the demo) and although it may utilize the motion plus very effectively, it should have built upon everything else they "promised".  The stuff they "promised" with the last game is what I was holding my breath over.

Good job on the game, I may pick it up in the future or when someone else is done with it. Fingers crossed for a redsteel 3

More than the length of the game, I thought the pacing was a bit odd. Hour 8,9ish I was really getting into the game...and then it stopped.  When I wanted more, I was finished.  Hey, but the gameplay was great :b

@rol  it was still a commercial success despite the meh reviews are you suggesting that Wii owners at the beginning were so starved for games that they would buy one that they knew sucked???  THe game was heavily pirated 800,000k to be exact so i fair amount of people must have been interested in the game. Sales=/= quality, if that was the case COD is one of the best series ever (I know you dont believe that), going by user reviews the game was well received, you dont like it thats fine but lets not assume that your in the majority

@neostar  the game makes full use of the motion it released the Feb after Wiisports came out so I would say that it did come out in time. Sure they could have went ahead and not wait till Ninty made that add-on but the game would have had the same problems as the original, being inaccurate and buggy. I will agree that the lack of multi did hurt it, but for me single player has always been more important than multi, if your game sucks it doesnt matter how much people can play it, all your doing is sharing your sufferening
