Wii doesnt have enough stock to sell 600k in one week.NPD data will prove that.

It would if retailers had been sitting on stock

Yes and then the sales for previous weeks would be very small. The Wii has been sold out in NA until now and Nintendo said they hadnt done any stockpiling. So all supply comes from monthly production thats 1.8 million...if it was to sell 600k in NA in just one week and say 1.5 million for the month it would have only 300k for supply for the rest of the world for the whole month. This isnt happening.

huh?.

Ok, get this - If Nintendo shipped what they got, then October and November (and probably all of September) must have had 1.8 million Wiis shipped WW... where exactly are the extras when we know it hasn't sold that many?

perhaps some (most) stores have been keeping some back for a while, and have just released them on the 16th.
The likelyhood is, worldwide we will see more than 2 million sales of the Wii in December, possibly more than 3 million. And NPD data for December should show sales of somewhere between 1.2-1.5 million for those 5 weeks (compared to sub 1 million for November)

Actually I just read the other thread about this week.... this kind of shows why the sales have followed this pattern:

Not so much retailer stockpiling just that many stores didn't get any Wiis last week and had a huge shipment (60-100 Wiis per store for most stores) on Sunday.

So the ~170k is pretty much stores selling what they had stockpiled from weeks before and a few getting new shipments but the last big boost before christmas came on Sunday. I only have early data at the moment but 600k+ does look likely as a heads up.

--------

So it looks like it was not retailers stockpiling, but Nintendo held off on a couple of weeks shipments then sent them all at once for the Sunday (thus well over 600k sales for next week)

That sucks for Nintendo, they should really ramp up production for the Wii and the DS. Anything they make will sell out.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Next week is the big one - its the LAST week(end) before Xmas (Xmas is on the Tuesday - so following Sunday/Monday will be huge as well).

Plus, expect additional boosted sales in Japan - maybe as high as 150k for the week.

360 did really well though (in US anyway), pulled back 150k of the Wiis lead.

...

If there was any week where limited Wii supply would hurt - its this week.

C'mon guys the Wii isn't supply constrained. I am getting so tired of that worn out excuse. Anytime the PS3 or 360 beat the Wii it is always because the Wii is "supply constraint". Can't you guys tell that people are getting tired of the whole "Waggle" Fad. I mean look at Japan they have obviously become Un-faggled there.

I walked into 5 stored this week and they had like 12 pyramids of Wiis in the back because no one is buying them. that is why you never see them in stores because they don't want to waste shelf life on stuff people don't buy when they can put up 360s and PS3s so they can show how high tech they are.

wow, thats really good sarcasm, you had me going for a second.

Yeah, best attempt redspear, although it gets a little boring after so many sarcastic posts in this thread. Amongst the funniest joke posts are those from Diomedes I think

Just one thing for people that say that Nintendo isn't stockpiling. Those should go back and check the data for months like september or october. I'm pretty sure the total amount of sold Wiis will be lower than 1.8 million. On the other hand, we know that Nintendo ramped up production to 1.8 million in late summer, so this clearly shows that there are Wiis somewhere - and this week they are in the USA.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Yeah I know sarcastic posts abound, but I just wanted to use the word Faggle before someone else comes up with it. However come to think of it is too obvious a word not to have been used a million times before and I probably just missed it trying to comprehend some faulty logic. Diomedes posts are very funny he should get a job for SDF website.

As for shipments. I think it takes about 6 weeks or so for product to ship to retailers mostly because they send them by boat to reduce costs. So you probably wouldn't see the effects of it until October and there is no doubt that retailers will stock pile them for sunday ads not too mention leak a few during the week to get people come in. Think about releasing 10 Wiis on a Tuesday could bring in 40 people some of the people who don't get a Wii are going to buy something maybe even a DS or quite possibly a shoe rack if it is wal mart.

Care to make a bet on that?
