Forums - Gaming - The thing that makes the NGP "miles" better than the 3DS

The NGP has far more impressive control potential than bloody dual analog sticks. In fact the use of dual analog will likely prevent simultaneous touchscreen control, which is a shame...

funny thing is....most people here who is dismissing dual-analog sticks.... were the same people who constantly made the point about how PSP is lacking one.

i have to admit, haters gonna hate, regardless what Sony does

It is senseless to deny the dual-analog sticks capability, but the point is another...PSP had a problem because it had only one, and also it did't have anything to work in its place. That's not the case of 3DS since it has the touch-screen to stand for it. Games like Mario 64 DS have proven that the touch-screen it's not confortable to replace the analog stick for movements...but the second analog stick is generally used to move the camera, that doesn't require the same precision. On the other hand the stylus has proved to be very precise for aiming while not very confortable. So, considering the FPS genre (as example), you have 2 different control layouts, one more confortable but less precise on NGP, and one more precise but less confortable on 3DS, which is better depends on your point of wiew.

Nintendo knows how to counter this thread!

OHHHHHH you're screwed now...

I don't understand your comment about God of War. The series has always had an excellent FIXED camera with the second analogue being used just for dodging. Something that was handled perfectly well on the PSP versions.

EDIT: I really don't know why the gamer has to control the camera if the game isn't a shooter, racer, or open world game in which case it's expected.

It was handled well on the PSP, but not perfect. Imagine Demon's souls on the go, the possibilities are endless. I can go on with a list of software.

Demon's Souls is probably the last game most people would think of when it comes to portable game. That's something you really have to put hours into to really enjoy.  While it's good to haveo options for deeper experiences, the focus should be on more pick up and play friendly games and you'd usually think of more fixed camera games when it comes to that. You also wouldn't think of games with a lot of controls.

LBP for example uses all the buttons on the controller but to really enjoy it all you need is 4 directional movement and 3 buttons: Grab, Jump and a menu button.

2 analog sticks is going to make a real true COD on the go possible.  COD is insanely popular right now, and if people see that they can get a 1:1 console COD experience on a handheld, it might sway them.

So which 3DS games will suffer due to the lack of a second analog stick? You surely must have some in mind, if you are making such a thread.

Its not that 3DS games will suffer, rather NGP games will excel.

here we go again...

we should wait and stop making predictions, we already know what happened last generation (crows almost became extinct)
