Forums - Nintendo - 3DS Lite is not possible

Eh, whatever. They might find methods later on, but I don't really care since I'll be only getting one within a year or two from launch.

They just need to build a bigger and more expensive one in a few years time

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
The 3DS is closer in dimensions to the DSl than the DSi, which was slightly larger but thinner. So a few millimeters and grams here and there will hardly make a significant difference.
If they did anything to the small form factor 3DS, it would maybe be to the ergonomics (less blocky, no hard edges) and maybe make it a bit thinner, but unless that could be done in a cheaper manner from a production standpoint, there may not be much point in a redesign other than as a product refresh to reinvigorate sales.
Naturally, it's the common "I'll wait for the inevitable 3DSl" comment that Nintendo wants to head off at the pass with this statement.
If anything, and consumers stay hyped on the uniqueness of the 3D feature, Nintendo should and probably will release a larger 3DS with a significantly larger 3D display, which would be a better product, likely with better margins.
But, pending consumer demand, and Nintendo's ability (or lack of) to match production, that's probably a good two years away from initial launch.
SMALLER? its already small enough any smaller and you won't see anything. If anything I want a bigger model with dual anlagoue sticks like I sggested to them a year ago and got the usual spill
"we will take it under advisement blah blah blah"
I can see them doing revisions with longer battery time and better screens though, maybe 2 years down the road.
There is no need for one, the 3DS is not modelled on the DS but on its later incarnations.
I rather have one the size of an iPad, the screen is so tiny.
of course there going to do a remodel. people are amd if they think nintendo wont its milllions of dollars sitting on the table and of corse there gonna say they arnt other wise people would wait and not buy 2 of them
Of course its not possible; they always say that because the damn thing hasn't even been released yet. Why announce a sleeker design now since they're preparing the launch for the first one. They probably said the same thing when they were about to release the original DS. Two years later, they released the DS Lite.
Plus they dont have to make it smaller to make more sleeker; they can just slightly alter the design and improve the battery life. Its probably not commercialy feasible to release a *3DS Lite* currently since the cost of the technology hasn't gone down yet to justify a revision and price cut. It takes time.
