the top ten worldwide game sales says to gt5 where art you

If it had been there this week, that would be quite a feat (seeing as it's been 2 months since it released).

Edit: To put things in perspective, we'll use a game you support. After 2 months (during the holidays), Halo: Reach was #15 WW. After 2 months (out of the holidays), GT5 is #12.

Most games wouldn't be #12 after 2 months. Situation doesn't look/sound as bad now does it?

Whilst I don't agree with him, it's not a fair comparison, a slew of games came out 2 months after Reach ...

I only used Reach because of it's potency and genre, besides only having true competition from Black Ops (which ironically, released just about 2 months later).

So it wasn't an attempt to downsize Reach, but rather to display that no matter how big a title is, staying in the Top 10 up to/beyond 2 months isn't common.

Yeah dw I didn't think you were, but it still stands, doesn't matter what genre the games were .... Nov had Kinect, GT5, AC, NFS, Black Ops ect .. there was no question it was going to drop out of the top ten.

This week we only have LBP and ME2. That said, the argument is stupid, you can't judge anything on # placement in charts.

I am surprised that everyone thinks that 500k for LBP2 is a great success?  I would have thought that they are pretty disappointed with sack boy over at Sony again.  They were disappointed with the originals #'s(not devastated).  They have to have been hoping for closer to 800k  for this one.  I am not saying 500k is bad, but easily short of what they hoped.  I am not a fan or a hater for LBP, but i was hoping that the PS3 would have atleast one system seller/system defining title.  Maybe Uncharted 3 will break out...

Were they disappointed? I thought they were very pleased with how well it sold.

As for a system seller/system defining title, look no further than Gran Turismo 5 and Metal Gear Solid 4.

So, back when LBP1 came out, it was all over the place how it was going to be a monster hit and a massive system seller for the PS3.  But after it came out, it was a middling success, just like LBP2 looks to be.

Now, as for GT5 and MGS4.... your kidding right?

Sure, GT5 is selling good(not as good as they hoped either), but is it defining the PS3?  I doubt it.  Just a good title.

I can agree that MGS4 probably moved systems- I bought the MGS4 PS3 when it came out.  but it doesn't define the PS3.  Like Halo does for the 360 or Mario does for the Wii/Nintendo systems.  But it is about as close as we get so far....

link or you didn't happen.

so, you think that if i waste my time searching the links and pasting them here, that you will change your mind.  not likely.  you need to do the work yourself to learn/change your mind.  An education in life isn't easy...

What I'm saying is if you don't have proof to say Sony was disappointed with LBP or GT5 it didn't happen. It isn't that hard.

Show me the recording of the sony board cheering the results of these or any titles and then you are right.

It is the job of the one making points to bring out evidence to support it first. You bring out links and I'll go look for some. I don't need to look up links if you haven't done anything to support your point. Your point is vapor, no substance to make it solid.

Above is a link to what Sony had to say about LBP sales.

Both points were right in different ways. Yes, Sony thought that LBP was going to push more PS3's and sell better than it did during Holiday 2008. However, they stated that they still had high hopes that LBP would continue to sell well for a long time...which it did.

By the way I am just trying to help...I am on nobody's side during this discussion LOL.

Above is another link about GT5.

Sony said that they fully expect GT5 to drive PS3 system sales during Holiday 2010.

I haven't been able to find a link that says if they are happy with GT5 sales or not after that link though...by the way its Sony UK.

All you have to do is look through CES 2011 stuff, or the two weeks after GT5's release. There wasn't a time where they ever mention being disappointed in GT5's sales, but they do praise it's sold/shipped numbers. If you can't provide something concrete to the contrary, he is right, you're blowing smoke. It's that simple.

NO. you listen here, SONY only praised GT5 sales after NPD reported that the game only sold 400,000 in the U.S. for NOVEMBER npd, THEN sony went into FULL damge control mode and TWICE had to anouncethat the game sold 5.5 million....when they knew it flopped badly in the states and japan, so to save face they put out like it was actually selling shitloads, when it is only selling in Europe
