That's the part I think won't happen. I'll just take my Charizard to the Pokemon Center, teach it Dig, level it up, EV train it and come back at Blastoise.

It'll sell so much,it will tear a whole in the time space continum and end all mankind. 

but when you come back blastoise will eat many candies hel gain a level up. and hel get hyper beam :)

Just an observation, I have seen lots of people switch between a Blackberry, iPhone and Android phone and I have seen very few people switch from a Nintendo DS to a PSP; or to abandon their Nintendo DS and only play iPhone games. At this point in time, I don't see any reason to believe that the people who own Nintendo DS are more likely to "jump ship" than customers for other platforms; and I do see some indication that the opposite could be true.

200 million is not impossible.  

Um, I honestly don't think so. Maybe if it launched at $99 and had the ability to cure cancer. Other than that, I don't even see it outselling the DS by a large margin. 

I think PSP2 will make the difference this time, am not fan of SONY but i am impressed by the capabilities of NGP. In the other hand the 3ds is an other ds with some kind of 3D in it.

Look, I know the DS is going to outsell the GBA 2:1 (at least 160 million versus 81.49 million).

However the GBA only was a primary console for 3 years! DS has been around for 6!

Also the GBA was outsold by the original GB and GBC.

So for all we know, the 3DS will undersell the DS, and with a price tag of $250, it could very well do that. However, if it does grow, I don't expect it to grow more then 20-30%. So 200 million, thats possible, 300 million, your nuts.

Take PS2 - PS1 for instance, it only grew 40%, despite PS2 almost killing the competition.

The 3DS will never do 200 million, the DS managed to do 150 million with 150$ pricetag, what makes you think 3DS with the PSP1 launch pricetag will do better? Lol.

And btw, GBA a primary console for 3 years? Wtf? It released in 2001 and was in the storeshelves till 2006. The DS released in 2005  afaik.

As a primary console, the GBA was only around for 3 years. 2001-2004 the GBA was Nintendo's premier handheld. In 2004 the DS came out, which shifts interest. Not many people buy an outdated product, especially when the DS is backward compatible.

Also the DS started at $200, and now it starts at $130, but goes up to $200 with the DSi XL.
