This thread has been hilariously outrageous

just like this supposed PSP2 price.

If it is a dollar over $300, its too much.

If you're expecting it to be less than $500 then you're seriously out of touch with reality and technology pricing.

If you expect it to be over $500 then you should expect it toeven try to compete with the 3DS or whatever. $599 was already insanely high for a game console and the PS3 suffered because of it, but a handheld with a similar price will just destroy it.

Above: still the best game of the year.

I work for Gamestop and this price is placeholder only.

We also had the 3DS and Kinect listed for $999 when you could pre-order it before a official price was announced.  The reason is simple.  It is company policy that whenever a product is listed for a specific price we have to sell the item for the price on it rather than what acutal price may be.  Thus if we listed that we believed the NGP would sell for $300 and let people start pre-ordering it ,but Sony then announced that the NGP was launching for $400, we would still have to sell the NGP for only $300 to those who pre-ordered instead of full price to avoid false advertising.  By placing an incredibly high price point on estimated price it guarantees we don't under shoot and in fact is very common in all companies not just Gamestop.

Simple business practices folks, that is all.

Me and the rest of average American consumers.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Probably on purpose as an internal Gamespot joke

The pricing will be between $300 and $520. By the time this releases the 3DS prince could be between $180-$230.

I can't believe Sony is walking the same path as they did with PSP.

Think for yourself, question authority

I expect it to sell for a tiny profit at $500, but, I can see it being as low as $400 if they want to try and keep as close to 3DS as possible. My reasoning is the pricing of all tablets out there. There is a reason why its not called the PSP2. They don't want it to be as associated to a portable gaming console as possible. They want it to be more like those 7" tablets taht sell for $400 to $500.

This is why it has all those features, touch screens, Android, 3G, etc. I fully expect it to be $400 wifi and $500 wifi/3G.

Hmmm....

I don't like the sound of that..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Hmm play PS3 games on a big screen at home or a small screen on the go? lol I would rather buy a PS3 which I am and The last guardian with it for far less than this thing. (I am playing the take rumor as fact game here :P)it is comming out for the iphone soon so check it out when it does

Well as expected Sony remains stupid as ever it is like they want to sink their boat by making their own holes in it :P (oh that is a move, an old one but good) check it out

Hmm maybe the head of Sony is a Nintendo ninja trained to destroy Sony slowly…

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

$400 to $500 makes sense when you consider comparable (by the holidays) smartphones and tablets. Its essentially the same feature set with additional core gaming functionality. People expecting different are being dillusional.

I expect Sony to offer it a a small loss to themselves at $400 for wifi only and $500 for 3G/wifi.

Yay its under a grand!
