Though it's not gonna be "suffering."

Looking at how PSP has suffered outside of Japan, if nothing will change in game support NGP might be in much more tougher position than PSP was at the beginning.

BTW why NGP? It stands for Neo Geo Pocket =)

No silly it stand for Nintendo Gets Pwned ;P (i jk i just read someone else put that and couldn't resist xD)

Most likely suffer the same fate, which could be considered good or bad, depending on how sony wanted to go about this.

1 major thing I don't like for both is the game prices shooting up. Buying a console, you just pay once, but for games, you end up paying the higher price every time.

The quality of cheap iPhone and Android games is improving every day. If consumers are given the choice of sub $10 games on a system they already own or spending $250 and $40 on another system, most are going to be satisfied with the cheap option.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Of course not. It will be much worse, as explained here: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=3861862

Dude did you get banned for that? That was totally an attack on Sony, sometimes they make decisions I disagree with but I don't think their really stupid. But then again you love to provoke fights and make things funny, I wonder if you truly believe that Sony is stupid or if your just saying that to get attention.

Well I guess I'll see if your still around tomorow and find out lol!

Actually, I believe Sony AND Nintendo are stupid not being very smart on their next gen handhelds.

I disagree but don't think your alone. There are several factors that people disagree with that both Nintendo and Sony are doing. The biggest being many consumers wanted a 150$ handheld but Nintendo went 250$ and Sony's handheld will probably cost more as well.

What are your reasons for thinking both Nintendo and Sony are being stupid?

Well, Sony repeating their mistakes with PSP but worse,  and Nintendo also choosing a high-end route cramming everything possible in the 3DS and some more instead on focusing on what made the DS and other Nintendo handhelds sucessfull: low price, good battery and simple games to pick up and play (console games like Resident Evil and and Metal Gear Solid are not made for small game sessions). The PS2 should just be named PS3 Portable because that what it is except that it fits in your pocket.

I don't believe one second that they'll beat the 3DS, but this new handheld looks fine. I think they actually stand a chance, as long as the price is not in the prohibitive range (more than 300 dollars).

Being a huge fan of oversimplified games and cooking mama, I know what to pick up next December.

depends.... do you count 65 million units sold as "failure"?

with Playstation Suite, Sony will be making a lot more money software wise,

based on what?  past history

history shows that psp was sorely lacking in software sales compared to all other consoles, home or portable.

But yea i'm worried for this new NGP as of now.  Of course shoudl wait till E3, but right now it seems like we can expect basically same as PSP in terms of games

1. Ports

2. Short Spin-offs

another quick thing to think about is

What is PRICE?  & RELEASE DATE?

I mean whats to stop the 3DS from dropping to $200 if say the NGP is somewhat, and I mean somewhat reasonable at even say $300.  I mean if released same time as 3DS then its oh only 250 vs. 300.  But 3DS could drop by then to 200 to make it look so much more spendy at 300.

It's pretty much the same thing on the other side of the fence.

People are talking as if Nintendo had lots of new properties and innovative IPs, yet it's nothing but the same characters we've known for the last 25 years.
