Forums - Sales - Nintendo Earnings Results for Oct-Dec 2010

Data is coming in about four hours (11 PM in Los Angeles, Midnight in Denver, 1 AM in the midwest, 2 AM in NYC, etc)

We should get some good information from Nintendo. We'll definitely get:

- Profit / Revenues

- Shipments for SW for the quarter by region and worldwide. HW Shipments for the quarter by region and worldwide

- Shipments for SW / HW over Apr-Dec 2010

- Lifetime to date shipments for HW / SW through Dec 2010

- Revised Projections for DS / Wii or 3DS

I'll have an article up shortly after Nintendo's results come in. We do have known figures though:

Wii Party: 4m shipped

DKC Returns - should be 4m shipped

Wii Fit Plus - should be 4m shipped

Mario Collection - should be 3m shipped

Epic Mickey - 1.7m shipped (roughly)

All other Wii games released between 2006 - 2010, something like 1000 games in the USA, likely sold another 20m units or more together.

So both Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii shipped 1 million fewer units than VGChartz' guesstimate. Hopefully for VGChartz, VGChartz will redeem itself when Sony and Microsoft post their reports.

The original Nintendo Wii forecast of 18 million Wiis sold for this fiscal year has been reduced to a 16 million sales target.

I can't believe MArio Collection shipped 3m units. I can't.

Actually it had been 17.5m projected for Wii as of September results from October. My article is up. It has all the information you'll ever need. If you're going to mention the Wii / DS hw forecasts were slashed you also should mention that Nintendo beat its most recent SW projections for both Wii and DS by about 25m units combined (which completely offsets the HW decline and is why there is no change to profit / revenue forecast).

Wii software and DS software actually beat my estimates of 80m and 42m at 85m and 44m by 5% each. Was off mainly on the DS hw projection 9.0m vs my 10.2m guess. Was close on Wii - 8.7m instead of 9.5m

Your VGChartz data guesstimate was 9.7 milllion.

If talking about the amount of units sold to consumers this is probably a lot less. I know various European Media Markts stocked a lot of Wiis for last holiday season and after the holiday season were still left with an unbelieveable amount of unsold Wii stock in at least some countries. A Media Markt in Vienna (where I stayed during from christmas until early January) was left with many pallets of unsold Wiis, overwhelmingly so. I don't think they will order any more Wiis this quarter.
