PC's are actually 2 generations ahead (DX11 vs DX9).

PSP2 and the 3DS will both have plenty of exclusive titles, as both Nintendo and Sony dominate the industry with internal studios.  Both Sony and Nintendo have likely (and from reports that've been available for ages are), giving extremely advanced warning to all developers, so their internal and 3rd party devs will have a much better grasp of the internals than what was done, say, with the PS3.

And finally, as far as most consumers who've responded go, nobody gives a crap about 3D, it's just not what people are focusing on currently.  That having been said, it's their internal studios that will sell these items.  That, and their starting price tag.  If Sony can undercut Nintendo, that'll be a good start.

you sir are way off!

3D could be the system seller alone, imo.

But you're right, even Nintys 1st party hits would safe it alone.

Camera? 3d movies? 3D glassless?

...

Apparently you haven't been reading much.  I'm not knocking 3D, it's an intriguing bit of tech that's been available for....years and years.  However, the fact it's been available for years and years and still hasn't truly caught on in gaming, is pretty noteworthy.   As such, it's subject to the negative rhetoric that's been thrown around about 3D Gaming in general.

That having been said, you also clearly missed my entire point.  Neither system should suffer from the other, as they both have internal studios/IP that have strong core followings.   Coupled with the tremendous amount of first party support both platforms will enjoy.  As I said, neither should have problems with exclusive titles that will sell their product.

But yeah, I'm 'Way off...But I'm right'.  Nice coherent thought you had there.

Thanks!

But i'm still thinking you underestimate GLASSLESS 3D.

That's all i wanted to say.

Everything else, i can agree.

I honestly don't see it as the thing that will sell the device.  It may be glasseless, but it's still a gimmick.  And not necessarily one that's going to improve gameplay in any major way.   And considering Nintendo's corner of the market, a $300 pricetag, is pretty steep for parents buying their kids this thing.  No, I'm not saying there aren't any adults who play it, but even Nintendo has stated their core group is the younger crowd.

Either way, as I said, both companies have huge internal teams.  There will be no shortage of devs taking full advantage of the specs either machine has to offer.   We've suffered through the laziness of 3rd party devs, so we know we can probably expect more of the same from them.  But, the internal studios are really the ones who sell these machines, not the 3rd parties.

The 3DS doesn't cost $300.

You're right, it's $299.  Save that dollar and put it to some good use.

EPIC Fail...

Actually on January Nintendo got a conference in US where they announce the 3DS price at... 249$ (you can check on amazon instead of search for some article that convert the Yen price).

I had laugh for the 3D things, the big difference for 3D with the 3DS is every owner of the system can use the 3D because of the build-in 3D, it can't be said for the PC or console for which you have to buy expensive TV/screen.

As for the internal studio... Juste compare the sales of Nintendo games on Wii/DS to the one of Sony games on PS3/PSP, i think the first one sells a shit load more than the second. Sure sony get some core fan that will follow sony franchise on handheld, but are they more than nintendo audience? i don't think so.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

Oh yay another child who uses the term 'Epic fail',  grow the fuck up.

This isn't a thread about who's better.  If you actually take a second to read what the OP asked, he said would the 3DS hold the PSP2 back.     The answer is no, both companies have massive internal studios, and will receive incredible support from them.  Christ, fuckin children.

Nice to call me child... i am quite sure i am much more older than you. Anyway, this big mistake on the pricing just was a big blow for your argumentation. Cite an september 2010 article as there was a Nintendo conference in which they say the price jst few weeks ago show how you know well about the 3DS.

After, yes 1st party studio can play a role, but actually i think for that Nintendo are in stronger position than sony. Also the bigger success on the psp are 3rd party software (GTA, Monster Hunter) not so much 1st party.

The PS3 spin off on NGP will help the sales to the loyalist sony fans... but even without that they will have bought the system anyway, the question is how this game will help sony to extant its core?

I haven't seen anything on the 3ds that scream HD consoles to me. And, people are seriously thinking the PSP2 won't get support, you guys never learn.

This looks pretty way advanced for a PS2/Xbox level, imo.

were ps2/xbox HD consoles? 0_0

Exactly my thoughts, that looks way above it. Like low-low res 360 graphics...

A low low res 360 graphics is called an xbox.

Yeah, but there's no chance of an Xbox running the MT Framework engine, even if the 3DS version is modified.

The talk of it being 'about PSP level' is equally ridiculous, for the same reason.

It's more powerful than the 2005 PSP is very different than it's like the HD consoles. The 3ds is fine, but it feels old already without even being out yet, this tech craziness is funny.

PSP2 feels cliché with the classical graphical update and nothing else. Touch controls were already here on the DS. Doesn't it?

3DS is an in between past gen and HD consoles, graphically. BEcause 3D without the glasses is a world premiere on consoles. Thats what I mean and that exactly what it is.
