Wii's making things far too easy for PS3, it's sad to see Ninty letting it sink...

well Nintendo dug Wii's grave when they announced Wii U... What can i do?

Right, but it shouldn't have announced it so early at all, wasn't a new portable enough for this year? Maybe Ninty wanted to shock public, critics, devs, publishers and competitors, but it didn't work. Wii just needed more games at the right time to keep on aging well and comfortably. And the first wordings used to announce Wii U were appalling, making Wii look like it was by then considered a relic of the past by Ninty, add to them the lack of realeses for Wii and voilà the perfect recipe to bury Wii still alive.

Here's the usual monthly update.

Enjoy,

Where's Itadaki Street Wii? It's published by Square-Enix in Japan.

And why don't you make a list with first party games too? It would be interesting to see...

I have a list of first party games, but only for Nintendo.

Itadaki street gets published by Nintendo in at least 1 region, therefore I don't include it here.
The list is not about games that are getting released in Japan, it's about games published by 3rd party Japanese companies, notice that even some of those games may never see the light in Japan, but it's a good indicator of the support each console gets.

I don't include games to be published by Japanese companies either like Call of Duty, which is published by Square Enix, since the game is made by Activision and published by them in the West, for example.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

Games that will probably sell over 100k in Japan:

Wii:

  • Dragon Quest X (Square-Enix)
  • Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary Collection (Square-Enix)

Namco-Bandai announced a new Taiko no Tatsujin Wii title this week. It should sell over 100k in Japan.

So obviously its pretty pointless to predict who will win now. Anyone want to make any predictions about what the overall gap for the year will be? It will probably be around 700k-800k by the time holiday boosts start kicking in which is the absolute earliest I can see Wii winning any week, and even then it's not necessarily guaranteed. So we're probably looking at a gap of 500k at a rock-bottom minimum and maybe as much as 1 million if PS3 sees a substantial boost from Ninokuni and FFXIII-2.
