Forums - General - Just saw the Social Network spoilers!

I ordered it on blu ray and watched it all just now. And I have to say imo it did deserve the awards it recieved. Anyways I created this topic to talk about the end of the movie. I really wished the movie went on but it had to stop eventually i guess. So what is the relationship between zuckerburg and saverin now? Are they friends again? The movie actaually made me feel sorry for saverin. It mihgt be true, it might be not. What are your thoughts?

I really liked the movie as well and I have the same question. The acting was awesome and the dialog was great.

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

Me, I thought True Grit was better.

This movie while really good, lacked direction and a coherent point.  Even documentries tend to have a point.

I mean, they played the twins as the villians... when he really did steal their idea and stall them to get a headstart.

As for Severin... he lives in like the Singapore.  He didn't actually settle like the movie said.  He ended up winning in court.  Owns like 7% of Facebook.

Not bad at all considering its magnitude!

I refrained from watching the movie because I hate social networks & facebook in particular... should I watch anyway?

You're alive on VGC? That's another piece of good news.

And yeah, you did tell me something about it, I just couldn't wrap my brain around what was it that you told me!

I've been always alive in here, there's just no good threads to post so I may appear as dead. I just found you and thus decided to post

They don't really make a big deal about social networks honestly.  It could of been an oil company or an ad company or anything really.

I agree with this. I've read reviews where the movie was compared to a Shakespearian tragedy, but the ending was very unsatisfying IMO. All of the characters had a relatively happy ending, and the movie did a poor job of showing the negative consiquences of Zuckeberg's despicable actions. You're right that there seemed to be no point to the movie. It also seemed like they were too afrain to paint Zuckerberg as the villain he was.

I also hated the dialogue. Aaron Sorkin is the main reason I could never watch The West Wing. He tries so hard to be smart and witty, that he creates artificial dialogue, that's so unbelievable. It's as if all the characters have the same voice. The movie Juno was harshly criticised for this, but no one seems to criticise The Social Network for it. It would be OK if just one of the characters spoke that way, but the fact that all charatcers speak like that is a huge flaw IMHO.

The movie was also too long (lenght is appropriate for some movies, but it seemed pointless in this case).

Personally I thought Black Swan was much better. More original, better acting, awsome use of special effects (no simple eye candy like Transformers), and a surpsrisingly appropriate length.

What's True Grit like? Haven't seen it yet. Heard it's similar to Unforgiven, but more kid friendly.

I was suprised that the film company had the balls to picture Zuckerberg as bad as they did. Even though it was factual and Zuckerberg did many very mean actions I still didn't think anyone would have the balls to make him out that bad. Infact I thought it was a very educational movie I didn't know about half the stuff until I saw the movie.

Now Zuckerberg himself said the movie was completely fictional. so how much of it is fact and how much is Hollywood I'm not entirely sure. I'm sure that some parts were exagerated (Like Zuckerberg setting the guy up with the chicken so that Greenpeace or who ever would get upset giving him an excuse to distance him from the company) I doubt it happened like that, thats just to deviant and diabolical. But the part about the Twins ideas being stolen and savatogued thats probubly been downplayed.

In the end its hollywood , its entertaining and educational. Whether its 100% factual is the only thing I found wrong with it. Then again Zuckerberg rented a theater out so he and his staff could watch it, So you never know.
