I think you are being extremely childish for taking things for face value.  "They said it!  I believe it!  You're wrong!  I'm right!  Just because they said so!"  Yep.

Um, the EFF has been around for a bit now you realize that right? It is not some fly-by-night company that happened to pop-up when the PS3 was hacked. They have been fighting the good fight to make sure you own the electronics you buy for some time now. So yes, he is right on that one. Not just because they said so though.

I don't care how long you've been around, and I don't care what you do.  No establishment is perferct.  This is just typical Sony demonizing (or any company for that matter) on this site.  We all have mission statements, we all have some kind of defined purpose sometimes "evolving."  Do we carry them all out perfectly.  Nope.  Never idolize something imperfect just because it works in favor of what you're against.  It clouds the perception.

Thank you, Sir.

Yeah, i liked the old forum mechanics better, sometimes i push the wrong button with the current mechanism :P.

Well, i don't want to keep arguing over this, both of us have netter things to do. Just like i said earlier, I personally believe it would be better to withhold such opinions as yours. Mainly because it's just blasting people for no other reason than just to blast them.

But you have your opinion and you're entitled to it, just as much as anyone.

If i lose access to this profile as well....I'm done with this site.....You've been warned!!.....whoever you are...

Happy Wii60 user. Me and my family are a perfect example of where hardcore meets casual and together mutate into something awesome.

Either way you slice it, sony is going to have to be the bad guy now.

If they introduce counter measures that hurts the overall consumer, they are the bad guy.

If they go after Geo, they are the bad guy.

If they do nothing, they are the bad guy, because companies like Activision and others would be pissed off.

Now the only good move would have been to put back OtherOS, and see how "individuals" act.

In the end, I don't really pity sony that much, they handled this horribly.

Will we see everyone praise these hackers when there favorite online game is unplayable because of hackers?

Everyones looking at the one thing in this case. They think Hackers are fighting for our rights. Clueless to the fact that when people bought the consol they bought it for the experiance and games Sony said it would bring them. Not for homebrew and not for piracy.

You mean they didn't buy it for the advertised otherOS function that Sony advertised and pushed. Maybe they just want to follow through on the ad campaign, I mean ps3 only does everything (that sony wants you too, andd still lets you do unless they change their mind and take it away). Sony brought this on themselves by removing features they advertised. That is why the hackers are fighting for our rights, our right to use the hardware we buy. The psn hacking and trophie hacking was not done by the people sony is sueing, so whats the point?

Trophies will soon be ruined thanks to Hackers, Online games will soon be flooded with invincible people thanks to hackers and your favorite gaming franchises have half the chances of getting sequels now because of piracy and its all thanks to these hackers.

Perhaps sony should target the people hacking those things, instead of these guys that did none of that

Hackers fighting for our rights??? Get the fuck out of here, weres my right to play games fairly that I spent 60 bucks on???

Were is my right to intall otherOS? It only does everything. These hackers did not stop you from doing anything, it was other ones why not target them?

Anyone whos on the side of these hackers seriously doesn't have a clue on what damage could be caused with all this. They think they'll get to save a few bucks and pirate some games on the sly except this whole hack Sonys trying to stop does much more than allow pirated games, it ruins legitimate peoples experiance.

Anyone on the side of sony doesn't have a clue what they will do if we have no rights. They will not let you use what you pay for how you should be able to. They will continue to remove features after launched and advertised, they may start adding maliciouse code to their disks and possibly hardware. Why trust a company like sony with their track record on these matters?

buying none of Sony's gear

by this, i assume you'll just be pirating then...typical. the defenders of the hackers are obviously none other than the pirates themselves.

note to everyone, its painfully obvious that those deffending the actions of these ass hackers are most likely pirates as they can get free games. just look at the just released hen for the psp. once an iso loader was released its open season for downloading iso games..

I don't understand how people like the OP get away with so much trolling against Sony. It's baffling.

Messiahs usually get a free pass at trolling. Get with the program and follow the hierarchy.

I don't own a ps3 yet so these hacks/pirating do not affect me. I support the hackers (not the pirates) because if sony gets away with striping their hardware of features after you buy it other companies will do the same. I feel once I buy any form of equiptment/hardware I can do what I please with it as long as i dont use it to harm others or the enviroment. The pirating issues are not related to this lawsuit in anyway, in fact I don't think the word piracy is even present. Not even backing up files.

"computer security researchers" - so that's the term hackers go by these days is it?

My thoughts exactly, not like the article sounds biased or anything right?

Actually that is the name they have always gone by. Without them there would be no such thing as security. The term hacker is a label come up with after the fact for various actions those people choose to use. Most people you would label a "hacker" though is little more than a kid using scripts someone else created. In this case you are blaming Geohotz for the actions of others when he was simply poking at a machine he legally bought.

So to summatize in the style of your cohort: you are saying someone should have legal repricussions for using a device he legally owns? Or are you saying corporations have the legal right to dictate what your actions should be with your own property?

We could go back and forth about this all day. Sony is a company that has to protect their assets and their security has been breached. And on the other side you have ppl who own physical property and have to the right to do with it as they see fit. I'm not arguing consumer rights here, I agree with you. But where exactly is the line drawn, at what point do you believe the companys have the right to fight back? Instead of just saying Sony is wrong and there are other ways, tell me what do you suggest would be a better course of action for them to take?

To go after the pirates not the hackers? Seems pretty logical to me. Not remove features they tout and advertise would also be a good start. Trying not to hurt their real customers while they try to fight the pirates?

1. other OS never advertised. and its not a damn PC, its a game console! what dumbass retard buys a game console just to install otherOS? fighting for our rights?! omg! stuuupiiid!!!! if they were fighting for our rights has the other os been enabled by them again? where is it? what? none? morron! no other os but piracy is a go now. obviously you are a pirate! hence your love for this crap. what do you get for hacked consoles? the ability to play some lame ass homebrew crap game? OMG!! you have a supper ultra powerfull game machine and all you wana do with it is run ugly crapy games? HAHAHA!!! hypocrite!!! face it, you want the ps3 hacked for piracy! asshole!

2. other OS was never a right, it was an extra feature sony threwin for added value that none of us asked forand was a privelage. dumbass!

3. so, sony will not let you used the ps3 to play PS3 games?!!! OMG you are such a retard! your stupidity is all over the place...sad sad world when stupid idiots like you get to post his stupidity on the net. people as stupid and moronic as you should be banned from the net. better yet, people like you should be banned from life, dragged to the streets and shot so as to ensure that mankind has less stupid people running around.

@Thranx: While I totally agree Sony brought it on themselves (and even hope they lose so as to learn their lesson, and instead figure out a way to deal with this), you CANNOT say they're fighting for our rights when they published the hack on the net.

If they kept it to themselves, and maybe figured a way to bring back the advertised features without blowing the PS3's door wide open, then I can agree. But this is just wrong, because while it does bring back features Sony advertised...it also opens up game hacking and piracy, and THAT is not doing us any favors.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!
