Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo 3DS causes dizziness and fatigue in 10 minutes

Joelcool7 said:

I don't buy it. Nintendo wouldn't be stupid enough to release another platform that people couldn't play without side effects. Look at what happened to VirtualBoy it tanked and it had side effects. Nintendo knows that consumers want to play their handhelds for a long period of time a session.

I bet the people creating this rumour are anti-Nintendo and they are just trying to create a scene. So I say screw them they aren't going to scare me , my 3DS pre-order will remain in place till I have the unit in my hands.

my thoughts exactly   : )

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

More 3DS FUD by the looks of it.  Akin to the "broken TV screen" FUD we got with the Wiimote slipping out of people's hands.

come on people, we are talking about Nintendo

Nintendo would never release a hardware that would make you dizzy in 10 minutes

I hope you're being ironic

I think he was being serious. To his credit no one wants to remember that device.

Virtual Boy caused headaches, not dizziness/fatigue!  Get your side effects straight! :P

Also, let's not forget the pandemic that was Wii elbow and fatigue!  Fat nerds are fat.

I bet japanese nerds get dizzy when they go outside too. I mean, there's got to be a reson why they marry videogames ffs :P

nah I really doubt this is true

I've tried it and it gave me no nausea during the entire 2 hours.

That depends on the person.

On the other hand, I got a heavy headache playing 3D on the PS3, but I played Wipeout...

OMG i am not buying it any more!!!

not!!

of course i'm serious, do you think Nintendo would release it if it had such a big issue?

also, if that was the case, 3rd party developers would not even bother to make such great 3D games if 3D vision would make the player dizzy, they would have realised themselves as well

i think the chances of this being true, at least for the average gamer, are very low

Yeah, he has blocked the memory of the Nintendo Virtual Boy all together.

Haha

Seriously though Nintendo released the VB as a separate console not as one of their main consoles. So if a problem like that were to make people not buy the machine they would not have done it.

These people playing the games in 3D and feeling this should also feel this while watching a movie. If they can watch a move and not play a 3DS then they are talking out of their asses!

Here is the thing. One of the reasons they put the slider on was because of people like this so there is a solution on the device so you cant say I don’t want it because it is bad for my eyes because it is in 3D. just turn the slider down and vualah you can play games like before!

More "new tech health" hype.. we had it when the Wii came out - people pulling muscles, getting cramps, breaking tvs... then Wii Fit, more injuries, etc. Now its the 3DS. Basically, going by what success Wii and Wii Fit had, these reports just state that 3DS will sell in amazing numbers. =D

All those issues with Wii didn't happen to me once.

Exactly my point. "So many" people were getting hurt, that clearly it was an epidemic that affected everyone - everyone except those who actually OWNED a Wii =D

eh, there is at least some truth to this article.  remember that article about eye doctors claiming the 3DS will be helpful in diagnosising vision problems in children?  it's what 10-15% of people have vision issues that make it so they can't see 3D properly of which headaches is the most common symptom.  i had a few friends complain about avatar giving them headaches -- i imagine they'd complain about the 3DS as well.

so in short, it's not the 3DS but rather 3D in a small-ish segment of the population that can't view 3D properly.
