Forums - Nintendo - Rumour : 3DS already hacked to run pirated games.

This could be terrible for 3DS's attach ratio because Nintendo is also going for the core gamers this time.

And core gamers have a higher tendency to be no good thieves who care nothing for the industry, :P.

Well its possible the version the factory worker stole was not the final version. i mean i remember hearing there was no software on installed on the system, so its possible he installed his own software, it doesent necessarily mean hes already hacked Nintendo's software encryption.

That is the one thing that somewhat confused me as well, when I saw the 3DS, I didn't see any form of software just basic dos like stuff.

Exactly, not only was their no software installed on the 3DS but how would the hacker get his hands on the games? I'm sure the games and consoles are manufactured at different sites. Not to mention once he got the game how could he play it on the 3DS with none of the software installed on the 3DS.

So he'd have to hack the 3DS and make it playable. Then hack the game to make it playable with the hacked 3DS. Then after that he'd have to create an emulator and break the encryption on the cartridge. Even after all that is said and done he still wouldn't have hacked the final version of the OS or Nintendo's security software.

Now if hackers got their hands on a fully functional 3DS with final software and a game or two. Then hacked the game and the 3DS. Then maybe we will see roms and emulators at launch, but I bet Nintendo will shut those guys down or do their best to try right from the get go.

Also if an emulator exists and a fully functional 3DS was stolen where is the proof wouldn't these guys want to leak that out as soon as possible before the 3DS launches? At least give screens of the functional 3DS

It was hacked even quicker than Kinect!!! Now that's unbelievable!!!

That may be all they need.  I mean they may have been able to defeat any kind of encryption the HW may use using all the info found in that "dos like stuff."  Granted they will still have to figure out how to bypass the SW encryption, though something tells me it wouldn't be that hard for a professional hacker.

Sometimes I wish these guys would just leave some shit alone.  At least wait 5-10 years before you start screwing with people's livlihoods.  I think homebrew is awesome, but we all know piracy usually, if not always, comes first.

I seriously doubt the news... I mean they managed to run something on the machine, perhaps DS roms, but not 3DS games...

well. this is to be expected.

look at DSi, hacked before launch. Nintendo doesn't care at all, not when it helps boost hardware sales.

Has nintendo done ANYTHING to ease piracy on DS platform? don't be surprised if the trend continues

i love it when u post its always funny and idiotic but plz   kingoffail

While I agree that core gamer tends to hack more, the reasoning behind your post is very close minded, borderline irrespectuous (probably the reason why you used ":P").

Not that I actually meant it at all, but for the sake of arguing, why would you think so? Core gamers do tend to pirate games far more often and I'm not sure why calling them (or at least those who pirate, which is probably a substantial proportion of the whole) "no good thieves who care nothing for the industry" is inappropriate in this context.

Theres a difference between calling the people who pirate "no good thieves who care nothing for the industry", than calling the core gamer that way. Even so, I sometime pirate yet I care for the industry and purchase more game than most.

I suppose we don't have figures to work with, but I'd imagine that almost all core gamers pirate, at least a little bit, like you. Also, whilst I guess the "care nothing for the industry" part can be scrapped for people like you who I'd presume are the majority, you could still, in theory, be referred to as a "no good thief".

I'm just arguing for the heck of it, mind you, I'm not actually calling you a no good thief.
