Forums - Sony - Why PS3 games sales is doing much better in Europe.?

with these week Other numbers and the games sales i see Sony really doing a great job in Europe and America start to look more and more sorry state of affair for them... i believe if they will release LAIR in europe, even it will start posting some good figures...

Assassin Creed
Uncharted
Ratched & Clank
Heavenly Sword
NFS
PES & FIFA 08
and evey game i checked has much higher figures for Others in much lesser time..

So should should fold Sony America division or should they give it another try... i don't think things r going to get much changed there anytime soon without any drastic measures..

LAIR was released in Europe, it flopped

Personally I chose PS3 mainly because I had a PS2, I liked the controller, I liked the PS franchises and I was happy on PS2 until the PS3 came to rear its head.

If you actually compare the costs of the consoles the 360 comes out at more, and for me I want the complete package, so hard drive, wi-fi, online, rechargable batteries. The thing about the 360 is that it comes with so many little extras that you have to pay for it is just annoying. the only thing that you need to get seperately from your PS3 is an HDMI cable, and that is it

Around the Network

I think a small part of it has to do with the fact that we in Europe are so used to rip off prices. The PS3 still seems over priced but not as expensive as it does to Americans, even though in reality it is more expensive.

Noobie,

Sony is selling 3 time less games than the Xbox360 in America
but the user base is 3 time less big !!!

so it is OK

if sony want to improve the software sales, it just has to improve the hardwares sales, no need of "drastic measures"

Sony has sold 3.50 million PS3 in US and 3.70 million PS3 in Europe/Others.

so the game sale of each of its title should be pretty much around 1:1

But if you look games Data

Uncharted : US: 0.23M Europe: 0.42M (So almost twice)

Heavenly Sword: US: 0.26M Europe 0.40M (50% more)

Assassins Creed: US: 0.54M Europe 0.95M (80% more)

Ridge Racer: US: 0.16M Europe 0.29M (60% more)

NFS: Pro Street: US:0.22M Europe0.56M (150% more)

Then there r games like FIFA and PES which are only played in Europe... So only games doing better in US than Europe is Warhawk and Oblivion, and they r not too far ahead either... So there is definitely some issue for Sony in America.. and denying it is not going to make things good..

Prestige. Here in Portugal, ppl think console, they think playstation. Besides there's hardly any investment from Nintendo, few games available, getting here weeks after they're released everywhere else. MS also doesnt seem to have a big interest in our market, almost no publicity etc. I mean, Halo 3 was hardly noticed here and yet Heavenly Sword was talked about in news on tv! Until MS and Nintendo invest more, PS will rule. They make an effort. We got Uncharted translated and dubbed, as did Ratchet and Clank which for some ppl is important and almost unheard of here. All of this, along with agressive marketing, puts them above.
