Sales of hardware such as game consoles rose 7.4 percent, driven by Microsoft's  Kinect motion-gaming device.

 

"Kinect was huge," GameStop's Raines said, adding that the retailer had to speed up shipments from Asia to meet demand.

I thought gamestop made their money on 2nd hand sales...

Guess the margins on hardware aren't that bad then?

Good point, not sure how much bank they make from each KINECT.

Couldn't be more than 10$ bucks could it?

Not to mention Nintendo just pissed off GameStop so every single GameStop nationwide is moving their Wii section to the back of their stores (usually in the front) and are replacing it with PS3 and 360 stuff.

I don't get how nintendo pissed off gamestop...since the article says they are hyped for 3DS....I AM SO CONFUSED IN THIS THREAD... it says biggest holiday, but share prices drop?

I never heard bout nintendo pissing off gamestop either.

Share prices drop based on the expectation that sales would be even higher. 

Gamestop had a record holiday, but Wall Street wanted/expected more more MORE so that's why share prices dropped.

We did indeed have a massive holiday thats for sure.  Kinect, the 360, and Red Wii being massive sellers.

And were not pissed at Nintendo really just wonder at some of their choices.
