Stop being so paranoid.

Has this same thing ruined the 360 gaming experience?

How about the Wii experience?

DS experience?

Oh, maybe the PSP experience?

Damn, not yet? Hmmm...

PS2 experience?

PS1 experience?

Yeah, I should be real worried.

Actually, you should probably worry less. It is what it is.

PS3 has been hacked a lot deeper than Xbox 360, in case you haven't noticed, and PSP is not as good an online system as PS3, PS2 and PS1 weren't that much of online consoles at all. If you want to compare PS3 to something it has to be the PC.

Just thought I'd stop in here with a cold hard slap in the face from reality:

The PS3 is domed. All versions, both slim and fat, are hackable. They will be hacked. It is completely out of Sony's hand at this point. They are fighting a lost battle.

What the hackers have done is completely legal and morally justifiable. Please stop crying people.

how is it justifiable?

You tell me how it's not justifiable for me to run home made applications on a console which I paid for. I mean, the PS3 is one hell of a machine. To have it restricted to the functions that Sony decides is absolutley redicolous.

What's more redicolous, though, is that I bought the console and used linux on it for two years, then they just take it away from me. This backfired on them hard and I guarantee you they feel stupid about it now. The hacking community was largely ignoring the PS3 because most had what they wanted. This entire hacking effor started after the removal of other os. Now they've found a security hole the size of the atlanltic. Even security updates isn't gonna help Sony at this point.

because its not the intended use for it. just because you own something doesnt mean its right or legal for you to do whatever you want with it. same with a car yea you own it but its illegal to have nitro in it sure you can do it but there will be consequesnces.

No it hasn't...look up what JTAG is. Xbox 360 still leads the pack in hackablitity.

Who said i was supporting SONY? I am not supporting ANYONE. And it sounds like you are supporting a community that and i quote " that care nothing of *you*". The blame is on Hotz and anyone involved in hacking the PS3. I mean really, why did every other console get hacked? Are you going to say "because of the ummmm ummm...."

There is nothing to fight, this would have happened even if linux had stayed on the console. Stop kidding yourself by saying "Its all Sony's fought!".

Alright, I will refute this entire post.

#1.) Homebrew community not caring.

Numerous releases from the homebrew community whether it be SNSES9x, GNES, Nesticle, private online servers, homebrew indy title, etc... almost always have community forums where people give info on what they would like to see added/removed, bugs found, etc... and all of this work done over a long period of time by these homebrew developers is done 100% free of charge.

#2.) Why did the other consoles get hacked?

Easy, they never allowed homebrew from the get go. PS3 did.

Read the statement by Team0verflow. PS3 didn't last this long because SONY made some unbreakable code. It lasted so long because there was no reason for the community to do so. The 360 is actually a more secure console than the PS3.

http://www.ps3hax.net/2010/12/ccc-ps3-security-is-epic-fail-fail0verflow-project/#axzz1AqMmJ9HQ

#3.) This would have happened if Linux stayed on the console.

Is a possibility, but remember, the PS3 scene didn't really start getting into full swing until after Linux was removed, so your claim is actually more BS than mine is. I can actually back mine up.

A certain user's sig says it all in this situation as it helps to know about the scene if you are to argue against it.

I know plenty. I know how a community like that shouldn't exist in the first place. Modding your own console should be enough. There is no reason for the mass spread. Except for fame, which is exactly what the hackers want. And at what cost? The cost of pirates pirating games. It just isn't worth it but they do it anyways.

The PS3 was bound to get hacked regardless of whether Linux was there or not. Removing it just made the hackers more aggressive towards hacking the PS3 even more. People need to stop using "Oh because Sony removed Linux this is why it got hacked"... Thats nonsense and people who use that logic or agree with it knows it.  I think people use that in general as a way to give them a reason why this whole hacking crap started. I really don't care about Hacking, Jailbreaking, w.e you wanna call it. I play my PS3 to play games and not do all this other nonsense people cry about. Yes I find it annoying when I have to patch a firmware update that is not giving me nothing new except patches to make counter the hackers. However Sony is a company and they will do what they must to fight anyone they feel is abusing their devices. I'm not taking any sides in this lame debate, but I do indeed understand both sides of the story.

Wait what? So the 360 is hacked more than the PS3 and the wii?

Well if that's true then I certainly didn't know it.

Heres the story.

1. The characters

-Sony

-Homebrew Community/Hotz

-Pirates

2. The Beginning

-Homebrew community uses Linux to do whatever they wish with the Ps3.

-Sony feels threatned and takes away Linux

3.The middle

-Homebrew Community/Hotz decided to hack the ps3 to get linux back

-Homebrew Community/Hotz becomes successful and hacks the ps3 and mass releases the keys/hack.

4.The end

-Pirates follow up on Homebrew Community/Hotz and pirate games.

-Sony decides to sue Homebrew Community/Hotz

You can do whatever you want with the 360 if you have a JTAG'd unit. External hard drive, custom dashboard, homebrew, emulators gallore, even control fan speed and temperature of the console...

Here is a clown showing off his custom dash - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmdpjGvQ6sM

The only difference is that Microsoft has tools in place which kick a jtagged 360 off xbox live in less than an hour and get it banned. Sony needs to work on this IMO if they already don't have it in place.

Way to go. I never said I cared about Linux. I only stated that the removal of Linux was what pushed the PS3 scene to crack open the PS3.

Do me a favor and actually read what I write next time will you please?

You said that because you do care about Linux.

#1.) That is also why you keep bringing up the 600$ price point.

#2.)I have read, and all i keep reading is "Its all sony's fought for removing linux"

Like I said, next time try reading what I write.

#1.) I brought up the $600 price because that is what I paid for it, plus that discussion wasn't about linux, it was about whether or not purchasing something entitles one to do whatever they wish with it.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=3860291

So Linux claim #1 shot down. Hell, Linux wasn't even mentioned in that entire discussion. O_o

#2.) I say it is SONY's fault for removing Linux because AS I SAID NUMEROUS TIMES, it was Team0verflow, the people who broke it open in the first place who even admitted to this, not to mention GeoHot's initial hack only resulted in giving it back before he vanished from the scene.

Linux claim #2 shot down.

@Bolded

No, you didn't read what I wrote because nowhere do I mention that I care about Linux.

Keep feeling free to turn this into a discussion of entirely BS accusations about what my direction in this argument is though and my reasons for supporting the scene.

Wii is just as vunlerable as PS3 right now.

Just take a look at what I have done to it.

I love it though, because while you guys have things like Ghosts and Goblins removed I can just put it right back.
