Forums - Sony - Sony Suing Geohot and others over PS3 Hacking

Just thought I'd stop in here with a cold hard slap in the face from reality:

The PS3 is domed. All versions, both slim and fat, are hackable. They will be hacked. It is completely out of Sony's hand at this point. They are fighting a lost battle.

What the hackers have done is completely legal and morally justifiable. Please stop crying people.

how is it justifiable?

They own the product since they purchased it. They can do whatever the hell they wish with it.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

That's not necessarily true. Especially in the cases of software like OS and other stuff.

You tell me how it's not justifiable for me to run home made applications on a console which I paid for. I mean, the PS3 is one hell of a machine. To have it restricted to the functions that Sony decides is absolutley redicolous.

What's more redicolous, though, is that I bought the console and used linux on it for two years, then they just take it away from me. This backfired on them hard and I guarantee you they feel stupid about it now. The hacking community was largely ignoring the PS3 because most had what they wanted. This entire hacking effor started after the removal of other os. Now they've found a security hole the size of the atlanltic. Even security updates isn't gonna help Sony at this point.

What's even more stupid is that Sony sells PS3s as a gaming console. Imagine that.

So we live in a day where I pay $600 for something and do not even really own it?

So glad this is what people support.

Come again? Am I on crack or are you just setting yourself up for fail with that one?

Remember this little add camnpaign?

IF anything, out of all the consoles, the PS3 is the one which has been pushed the most as a multimedia device. I repeat the other os function is something which initially came with my console. It's retarded to sell something to consumers then remove features....

Edit - it seems like someone caught your fail faster than I did...somehow.

We live in a day where a negative for something is brought to the forefront and the masses start believing how the entire thing is a bad thing just based on the one thing chosen to be highlighted.

We now chose to ignore that not everything about what has transpired will result in piracy and just lump everything and everyone together as one giant group that will destroy the industry.

Has anyone found anything that piracy killed yet?

I still hold by my belief that the claims people make about the effects of piracy are incredibly exaggerated.
