Now, this confuses me. By VGChartz numbers, Just Dance isn't even the biggest Ubisoft franchise of 2010. All of the Assassin's Creeds combined total out to 9933k.

But sure, that's really a statistical tie.

Now, for biggest franchises, let's see.

Mario: A bit above 40 million
Call of Duty: Roughly 27.5 million
Pokemon: 13.7 million
Halo: 9.846 million

So unless you decide to start splitting up Mario (which would make Mario into New Super Mario Bros = 15.2 million and Mario Kart = 9.3 million), I can't think of any other 9 million franchises for 2010.

Of course, Wii Sports Resorts made it on its own (11.3 million), But Ubisoft might just not count that.

Even though Ubisoft is talking shipped, I really can't see how Just Dance sold more than Pokemon. I mean, the original surely shipped a substantial amount of copies in 2009, which means that it actually shipped less than 9 million, and Pokemon Gold/Silver (outside of Japan) Pokemon Black/White (Japan) alone shipped more than that.

All in all, 3rd place seems impossible, but Just Dance might very well be 4th. By VGChartz, it's tied 4th with Assassin's Creed and Halo.

Maybe they mean for a 3rd party...or we overtracked AC by a bit

Or possibly, they're talking Wii only. That puts Mario up top, ahead of the Wii series, ahead of Just Dance. That's the only way I see for their numbers to make proper sense.

If they're talking 3rd party only, that would make the list Call of Duty > Assassin's Creed > Just Dance. They would never not mention Assassin's Creed being second if they say that Just Dance is third, would they?

No, they wouldn't. Either they are either semantically incorrect or the Pokémon series as a whole has been vastly overtracked this year (it hasn't, we know more than just vgchartz data on this). So presumably they mean on Wii only.
