If the ps3 is constantly connecting to servers even when we're not logged into PSN, then why do we still have to sync our trophies.  -_-

if youre not logged into psn then who would it give the trophies to?  the trophies are tied to psn accounts

2.   theyre definitely not checking your usbs, and they wont start, what if you have a 500gb external hd? but that doesnt change that it doesnt matter if you run something from usb or from xmb, the effect is the same.  they could require you send things to them to check what it is that youre running from the usb, a movie? picture? game? the ps3 has a pretty short list of what it supports, it wouldnt require much for sony to check what everyone is doing on their ps3.

So you're telling me then that you believe Sony would make the PS3 have to have a constant connection at all times then to run anything?

It's because of the way they set up the trophy system; there's actually a fair amount of data being transmitted depending on the number of trophies (amount of trophy data) being uploaded to servers and then downloaded back to the console.

You'll notice this if you ever download all trophy data from a user account with any decent number of trophies onto an unsynched console.

Automatic syncs would cause extra network traffic during play although there's no reason why they couldn't have the data sync immediately after exiting a game. Or why they can't have all downloads automatically install for that matter. I won't venture to guess why these quirks exist.

You can tell you're always connected to PSN servers even if you are not logged into PSN because the updates remain active unless you disable your network connection altogether.

Hah, Sony is ALWAYS watching you, even if you never bought a PS3.

Remember those Sony Music CD's that came with spyware?
