I mean, if you didn't get my point though, complainging that he's the awkward teen is like complaining that some fat guy is always playing the fat guy sidekick. Or that Seth Rogan is playing some stoner, or that some fat woman is always playing the friend.
That's basically all the parts these actors can play, because it's the only archtype they fit. Well even then they've pretty much gotten rid of fat woman with woman who thinks she's fat.
It's got nothing to do with the times either, really... all eras were like that. The only actors and actresses that usually get to show a full range of their abilties are the really attractive ones.

To be fair even though he always plays the awkward teen, he plays a wide range of awkward teens. The awkward teen he plays in Juno is different from the Awkward teen he plays Scott Pilgrim (Best film ever!). If you get what I mean (He can be dramatic and he can be comedic).
But no, he is stereotyped as the awkward teen, why? Because he is an awkward teen. If he were to play an alcoholic abusive husband or a suave sophisticated spy, then it just wouldn't work. Maybe he'll have a revolution in his acting at some point in the future (Leslie Nielsen style) and he'll begin to fit other roles better. But until then, we can just appreciate him for the actor he is.

It's funny because I just saw that one movie where he's in space and it's based off of the Tempest. It's crazy how much he's changed.

Forbidden planet, yeah, that's a really good film and I always use it as an example to show how much his acting changed over the years.
I agree with everyone who thinks that Scott Pilgrim is the greatest movie, ever. And he was pretty cool in that one--and 22 years old (remember, Kim asked him if he was forty?)

I don't know about you guys but the cool kids at my high school didn't exactly look like Michael Cera so it's no big surprise he's cast as the awkward teen. Plus he's in Scott Pilgrim vs. the world, my favorite movie of 2010 so he gets a free pass for the next few years.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse is another one.
I feel like he's the same person in every movie he's in from Superbad to Kiss Ass to Role Models to Year One...
Pixel Art can be fun.
Yes. I also would like him to play a new role in movies.
Acting just isn't his thing. I think that maybe he would be better served as a grip or maybe he should work in craft services.
