Forums - Gaming - video game that you hate but you love the soundtrack

Saga Frontier on the PS.

I got to a point in the game where it was just impossible to finish because I wasn't high enough level.  I could go back saves but unfortunately once I picked that chapter I was screwed.  I was already railroaded on that path and there was nothing I could do.  I couldn't gain any extra levels and the eventual boss just destroyed me.  At that point I was well more than 15 hours into the game and restarting wasn't an option and it was just impossible to beat that boss at my level so I had to quit which pissed me off.

Anyways, that game had fantastic music.

Ok, I might not quite hate Shadow the Hedgehog, but I certainly didn't like it either, and the soundtrack was by far the best aspect of the game.

I can't believe no one mentioned that one: it is the most polarized game in this aspect I have played.

Above: still the best game of the year.

X6 is the only Mega Man X game I haven't played. I didn't mention X4 or X5, because they're actually pretty decent, and I didn't mention X7 or X8, because I didn't think their soundtracks were that good.

Final Fantasy X

Hated it (even more as it came after my favourite Final Fantasy, FF9... I expected so much more) but the soundtrack is among the best, especially To Zanarkand.

There's a few Mega Man games I can mention, but I bet they're going to be posted eventually.

However, here's a few I can mention:

- Ultima VIII. I don't HATE it, but it was a disappointment after all the epicsauce before it. The soundtrack is just so dark and unpleasant, it's just so fitting.

- Thexder 2. VERY unforgiving and frustrating game. Soundtrack is ace, however.

- King Kong 2. Crap game, but excellent soundtrack.

- Aliens 2 (from Squaresoft). Not a bad game, but not great either. The 4th stage's music is amazing, though. I was surprised at first, but then when I saw that the composer was none other than the man himself, Nobuo Uematsu, it was no surprise.

- Untold Legends: The Warrior's Code. Bland, repetitive game, but the soundtrack can be pretty catchy.

- TNMT NES - I only hated it due to the flawed mechanics (with AVGN covering the problems), but the music is top notch.

I could list more, but that's what comes to mind for now.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

To Zanarkand, Prayer (Bahamut), and Silence Before the Storm. The cream of the crop from that game, IMO.

God of War 3, My pet (house) rabbit would always get energetic and run around to the attempting to be epic music and it was just hilarious, I think he actually liked the song, strangely enough over time it became pretty catchy to me too. (It should be noted the rabbit also reacted to the theme song of the show 'fringe' but I love that show).(Extremely) Sadly the Rabbit died soon after I finished the game.

Not hated but my least favourite FF, FFIX (still a great game by the way) the theme garnet sings when she is sad. That is one of the best FF tunes of all time IMO, its still stuck in my head today.

PLAYSTATION NATION LADY OF JRPGS

Favourite Games of 2013 1.Tomb Raider(PS3) 2.Atelier Ayesha(PS3) 3.Virtues Last Reward (Vita)

Tetris.

Don't get me wrong, I apprecite it's impact in gaming history, but I don't like quick-thinking puzzle games.

But the music is fantastic.

I can't say I hated the game is was fun but had some bad quirks (I'd replay the shit out of it if it had trophies), but I mostly bought it for the soundtrack, awesome.
