Wasn't she the one who knew him from 4 years ago? Things change in 4 years. And judging by the content on youtube and eslewhere, he was anti-government, which would fit in as more of a conservative than liberal.

Hi. So I live in Tucson and this has been a very horrible and heart wrenching situation today.

First off, I am heavily against the Tea Party and their supreme nut job Palin, but I can say 100% without a doubt this has absolutely nothing to do with politics.

This was simply a lunatic tin foil hat wearing weirdo who has some kind of mental condition.

This is the latest developments from my local media/sheriff department.

One gunner 22, year old Jared. He has a troubled past and many very crazy videos on youtube.

He was not alone, there is a suspect who left in a car. Not a shooter but an accomplice.

He walked into the Safeway on our north side of town and shouted something, shot Giffords point blank in the head, then started shooting almost randomly at other people with Giffords, shopping, etc.

He had a semi-automatic pistol of some kind.

Gifford is in critical condition and her doctor is very optimistic at this time.

Five other people are already dead. One was a 9 year old girl, another was a very respected federal Judge.

Five other people are also in critical condition and others in surgery of varying condition.

Total of 19 people shot today.

Jared is in custody and hopefully they'll get his driver soon as many are now looking including FBI.

This was simply a senseless act caused by a very unstable person.

Arizona still carries the death penalty and as this moves through trials I can see him getting it unless the mental condition the latest press released mentioned is something like Schizophrenia or similar.

I am completely astonished this happened in Tucson. I feel horrified that I could have been at that store shopping with my 8 year old and have to watch him die. I am deeply sorrowed for the families of the victims. I pray all those in the hospital make it out ok so no further people have to die do to this monstrous rampage.

Something has to be done about conservative terrorism in America.  First Muslims and now Republicans are joining the act.  Sadly, given both their lack of morals and low intelligence, I can't say that I am suprised.

Wow.

Just wow. You begin to point and blame people before knowing who the culprit was.

How was this guy a conservative? Please tell me that, because your post has to be one of the most ill-informed, ignorant pieces of garbage I've ever witnessed on VGC.

As for the OP, I am very sad to see anyone from leadership being shot. This wasn't the way to bring change. Such a senseless tragedy.

This is a surprise from Manus?

99% of the time, these people are just crazy people.  It's no big surprise or conspiracy...

but people like conspiracies so they always look to tie into groups or movements they don't like.

When pretty much all assassains are just crazy depressed people.

Right. It seems the guy was totally messed up in the head, and believed a hodgepodge of various left and right wing beliefs. He was against fiat currencies, but loves the communist manifesto and Mein Kampf. He hated government, but not in the less-govenment-is better style right wing beliefs, but more of the tinfoil HAARP stuff.

As for Manus, its not a surprise, but its still a new low for him. Not only die he try to attack conservatives with this, any reasonable amount of fact-finding would of led ANYONE to believe he wasn't a conservative, by the time Manus posted. By the time Manus posted, I've already seen dozens of topics concerning the guys political beliefs. That's why its so abhorrent: Manus could of easily determined what was going on, but decided to simply expouse his hate of the right for no good reason.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I coulda swore he did the same thing the last time some wacko shot up someplace.

But as for the above, yeah these guys are pretty much never sane.

Was the last shooting he tried to pin on the right happen to be the Discovery Channel shooting? You know, the one where the eco-terrorist demanded that they play more programs about reducing the human population, and respecting the earth more.

Yes, the Tea Party would really want to kill a pro-gun, anti-illegal immigration Blue Dog Democrat.

It's pretty sickening how so many people fly off all half-cocked in their desperation to make political hay out of such a horrible incident.

Consider this image below that the sarahpac website had up earlier this year.  She was opposed by the Palin camp in the last election period due to votes on the health care bill.  And note the cross-hairs used.  Factor in also people carrying guns to Obama speeches, and other extreme talk, with them angry about not being in power, and that is why the Tea Party is a top candidate.  Stuff like this below needs to stop.  You get an unhinged loon jumping on it, and blammo, you have more shootings.  And YES, that image was up on Palin's PAC website in 2010.

Nah. Intellectual laziness like the above post is what really needs to stop.

Oh, and here's an example of Democrats doing the same thing:

And another!

Finally, perhaps the craziest political ad I've ever seen, but I didn't hear so much as a peep raised about it... probably because Machin is a Democrat:

Nah. It was well before that. I think it may have been the thing where Joseph Stack flew his plane into an IRS building, but my recollection is little fuzzy due to the fact that I tend to repeatedly slam my head into my desk whenever I have the misfortune of reading one of Manus' posts.

Its very sad. I know nothing about who did it and why, but that will all become clear sooner or later and yes being batshit insane is a reason. Its not always some deep right wing conspiracy/2012/new world order/free masonry/zionism/ whatever else you can think of.

Wow why are people using this time to take this story and use it for their own political agendas.  A congresswoman was just shot and six people are dead, including a 9 year old girl and a federal judge.  Does that not matter to anyone or is that just secondary news.  Sure people have been politically motivated to do lots of crazy things, but should we blame the politics or the person.  Ideas don't kill people they motivate people whether positively or negatively.  In the end, though, people kill people.  Let's not forget that.

It might of been, i can't figure out how to search for threads.  I just remember an outlandish statement like "All terrorists are right wingers" that was later downgraded to "most" with the qualification that most leftwing socialist freedom fighter type groups had a "streak of conservatism" in them.
