RFK, Jr. on the Huffington Post: "HAY DOODS GEUSS WHAT GLEN BECK KILLD MY UNCLE OR SOEMTHING LOLZ (LEE HARVY WHO)"

Unbelievable. What a pack of ghouls. I feel sick to my stomach watching this spectacle play itself out, and sicker still to know that in a year or two I'll likely remember the revolting display of political opportunism that followed the shooting more than I will the incident itself.

An interesting way to portray one man's call for greater sanity

And it is doubling also as a chance to take a shot at the right wing.  Tell you what, if this thread is going to degenerate into a finger-pointing exercise in regards to whether left or right wing folks are the bigger jerks, I think it should be locked.  I could go on and argue how one side or the other makes the most noise, and is more wrong, but what is to be gained?  If all sides act like jerks, how about I pick NONE of the above?

To be fair, this thread derailed pages ago with that (albeit interesting) discussion about the complex interrelation between far right and far left ideologies, and it's been a finger-pointing session from page one

Though at your behest i will refrain from posting Palin's super-loaded "Blood Libel" accusations

Are you serious, dude? It's a political attack, nothing more. The whole thing is "right-wing this" and "right-wing that", but his uncle was killed by a communist whose name he amazingly manages to omit entirely.

All the hateful right-wing rhetoric that supposedly existed then and exists now only ever seems to inspire non-right-wingers to act violently. It's amazing how that works... almost like these murderers have their own motivations which are entirely unrelated to the national political discourse!

People are saying that she has blood on her hands, and that is completely libelous, so if the shoe fits then Paul Krugman, et al should take turns wearing it.

She's not the first to use the blood libel term here, either.

Maybe this will be a wakeup call to congresscritters.  Even congresscritters should think about having a gun or at least their friends having guns.  And Democrats should consider catching up with the rest of the US, and more Democrats should be carrying guns.  The more people carrying guns, the better.  After all, more guns means less crime.

In fact, if you live in the US and don't own a gun, why is that?  I highly suggest you get a gun.  If you live in a state that won't let you get a gun, I suggest you move.  If you like liberty, you might want to go ahead and move to New Hampshire.  In New Hampshire, guns were just allowed back in the capital (the Democrats that were in power put a 1 year ban in place and then were removed from office by the voters).  Heck, last time I was in the NH capital we didn't even have metal detectors.  Just the way it should be.

Heck, in this NH newspaper article, you can see that some of the Democrats in NH say crazy anti-self-defense things.  They still refuse to take the responsibility of defense on their shoulders, the way people do self-defense in NH, the Live Free or Die state.  And these Democrats wonder why they have no power in NH?  Their views are so out of touch with the culture in NH.  It's like they are from some gun hating place like Japan or New York City.  http://www.eagletribune.com/latestnews/x1919699773/NH-Republicans-dont-back-down-on-guns-in-Statehouse/print

I don't especially understand your complaint nor do I think that post-shooting reactions are off-topic here unlike, say, the internet ramblings of some jerk that you posted earlier in the thread were.

You indicated in that post that you wanted to discuss "hate", so let's do: I can't imagine anything more hateful than blaming someone for inciting a horrific mass murder without one shred of evidence to support such a claim.

The Westboro Congregation of Pond Scum backs down re: the picketing of Christina Taylor Green's funeral. The others are still on.

Killed by a communist so crazy even the Soviet Union didn't want anything to do with him, i agree. In neither case is the violence directly attributable to hate-speech (it is to a point, but insanity is by nature unforeseeable in how it might be prompted to action), but in both cases they came in a time when such speech arrives to dominate political discourse. A reason to reflect, if poorly ascribed, is still a good thing. Fox News correspondents have apparently been told to tone it down, so there's a start

Try Somalia, absence of government there means that responsibility for self-defense falls entirely on the people, and that seems to have been working out tremendously for them over the past twenty years

Introspection seems only to be expected of one side, though. You have incidents like the Cape Cod arsonist and his/her calling card of "fuck the rich", and the bungled shooting of the Florida school board by Clay Duke. Yet I don't hear anyone saying that class warfare (my, what a violent sounding term!) talk on the part of the left needs to be toned down. I guess heated rhetoric is only scary and dangerous when it comes from the right.

Whatever Fox News' problems, I've never seen them conduct such an utterly uncritical interview with someone sporting a clear boner for violent revolution as MSNBC did with Ted Rall. Just one week after the elections, no less.
