I came in here about to berate you for suggesting something co-op, or multiplayer related but this is something I wanted as well so I commend you.

Haha nice....but hold on what's wrong with multiplayer and co-op? I think inFAMOUS multiplayer could be fun - again, if done right.

It's over done and keeps getting shoe-horned in where it's not necessary. My 2nd biggest gripe of modern day gaming is that no one wants to play games alone anymore, they want someone else holding their hand (co-op) or literally talking them through it (X-game chat) seriously, just play the damn game yourself and quit being such a little baby.
InFamous 1 was awesome on its own without anybody else involved and so will InFamous 2. What makes matters worse is that games aren't considered "good" anymore unless they involved some form of "co-op", like really- just play by yourself! Not every game has to have a deathmatch/ capture the flag mode to be good.
Another annoying aspect of Multiplayer is when they try to wind it into the story even though it really doesn't belong there as a result killing the feel of the game. I hate anyone who screams "MP/co-op" for uncharted or InFamous' main story because it doesn't belong. Uncharted is all about ONE GUY and his ability to over come impossible odds and each fight for me was always some kind of puzzle that you and you alone had to solve, putting anyone else (including AI allies) always ruined that experience for me. InFamous is about YOU and you alone being the "Super Hero/Villain", the city is YOUR playground and YOU are free to do with it as you wish, the moment anyone else joins, it ruiins the purpose of the game, so no, it can't be "fun" if "done right", because it would mean either shoe horning unnecessary villains into a story where they don't belong or inexplicably creating factory line copies of Cole which will cheapen the uniqueness of his character- there is only one Cole, let's keep it that way!
(Don't get me started on people asking for MP in God of War games.)

As much as you hate when multiplayer is in certain games, other people hate it just as much when it's NOT in games. If it gets put into a game, then if you just avoid the multiplayer doesn't everyone win?
Don't get me wrong, I'm an all-campaign guy when it comes to games. I love a good story in a game probably even more than I love a good story in a movie. And I rarely, rarely play a game for anything other than the campaign mode - not usually a big multiplayer guy. BUT...if a company is able to successfully create an additional game mode that adds on hours of more fun for many of its fans, then why is that wrong? I understand that in many games it doesn't fit, I think a lot of people just try to separate the multiplayer experience from the single player/campaign experience entirely. Uncharted 2's multiplayer was the first (and only) time I've ever gotten into online multiplayer. I wasn't begging for or expecting multiplayer to come to Uncharted 2, but I tried it bc it was available. I ended up having a blast with it and was really happy they included it. U2's story/campaign is my second favorite of all time (only behind MGS4), but when I played the multiplayer I treated it, as well as the characters in it, like they were something completely separate from/had nothing to do with the Uncharted universe, so it didn't ruin the single player experience (or the universe U2 created) for me.
Another thing is that, while there used to be (pre-ps2/xbox i.e. online gaming days) just one type of gamer - the campaign gamer - now there are 3 types: the campaign gamer, the campaign & multiplayer gamer, and the multiplayer only gamer. Some people only buy games for their multiplayer/coop modes. They buy games and literally never even touch the single player campaign - I know a few people like this. I totally don't understand this bc I'm almost the opposite, but it's the way it is. So if a company refuses to put multiplayer into a game, it is completely shunning (can't think of a better word) one entire group of gamers who might otherwise enjoy the game mechanics, characters, environments/universe, weapons, etc. that the game offers. So both parties lose - those gamers bc they don't get the experience, and the game company bc they don't pull more fans into their series.
Annnnnyways, this def wasn't what I was expecting to get into by creating this thread haha. But the point is that you seemed to like my idea for the additional (non-multiplayer;)) game mode in inFAMOUS.
