Forums - Nintendo - Disc Reader went kaput

Randomly conked out on me when playing DKCR, then it degraded through multiple retries with different games to the point where 20 minutes later it wouldn't even start spinning when i put something in

How much is this going to run me (the unemployed me who can't get a minimum-wage zero-respect-or-talent job to save his life), and how many weeks am i going to have to go without for the privelege?

I am going to nuke the universe

You misspelled kaputt.

Other than that, I can't say much as I have no experience with the American customer service. When my disc drive went kaputt, I had to pay €60 to get it fixed and it took four days from the day I sent it in until the day I got my Wii back.

I figured it would be longer. It took them close to a month to replace Radiant Dawn (to fix the easy-mode data transfer error)

Already did, but FedEx doesn't pick up until Monday. These things always happen at times like this (a friday night), like chipping a tooth on Christmas Eve when no-one will be around to fix it till the 2nd or something

If my disck went kapputt, I would be screwd because my parents sure ain't pay for the fixing.

Above: still the best game of the year.

This is why I like cartridge consoles more than disc consoles. The consoles nowadays have too many things that can easily break down.

What does Nintendo's website say? Maybe they'll just send you a new console. My Disc Drive is dying as well. It's extremely loud and makes buzzing noises. From what I've heard it takes Nintendo about a week if they send you a new console.

Oh and Rol was it just 60 Euro? I've looked it up on nintendo.de and they say 70 bucks plus 7 bucks or so shipping... evil Nintendo is trying to screw me

I actually think mine is on its way out too.  It's having trouble reading Metroid: Other M.  No other disc is having a problem though.

The M:OM disc is fine, so I dunno.  Maybe it just doesn't want me to play that particular game.

How old is the console??? They just dont make them like they used too.

It's a day-one North American Wii, so there are much higher odds of there being a few hiccups (read a thread here about somebody with a PS3 60 GB in the UK that went belly-up as well). There were hiccups in mine before, anyway, occasionally it would turn on to a black screen, and very rarely would freeze up when launching the Disc Channel
