The creator is whatever the agreement stipulates, no matter who does the bulk of the work.

Well we can agree to disagree. I'm not giving Sony credit for IPs they didn't actually create, which include inFAMOUS, Resistance, or Demon's Souls.
If you did a little research, you'd know why I debate it. These companies bring their work to Sony, not the other way around. If Sony likes the work, they set up a business deal. That's not "creating" an IP, but rather a business partner for the time being (unless they acquire that team at some point). You gonna credit Sony for HEAVY RAIN when they did NONE of the work? LBP is Sony's creation when Media Molecule did ALL of the work?
As I said, we can agree to disagree.

I get where you are coming from. You are looking at it from a literal stand point and morally giving credit to the sole company that did the majority of the creative work. However I was looking at it from a historical standpoint and who gets credited as being one of the "creators". Clearly two different things. But you are right those studios, not Sony, did the bulk of the creative work.
But don't say the developer does all the work. Usually the developer comes to them with a game idea and prototype maybe, they don't come to Sony with a complete game. Sony then works with them and gives feedback and helps them shape their games. Sony is not that dumb to just let developers develop games without checking the work and giving feedback and forcing some changes. Especially with companies like Media Molecule that don't have a 10 year history with Sony. Also developers like Insomniac and Sucker Punch work with Sony's in house studios such as Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica and trade ideas and give feedback all the time. Sony's publishing arm is also the company that has consumer research and the such and they meet with the developers and they discuss what the consumer trends are, what age group is buying these type of games, what types of features are popular, what features weren't popular, what genre of games is being under served, etc. Studios like Insomniac will even sit down with Sony and have such discussion with them to try and help get ideas for their next game. That's how they came up with Resistance.
Insomniac didn't come to Sony and say we know Halo is dominating the market, they have aliens and tough guys and big guns and online multiplayer so we're gonna make a kick ass FPS to help you combat a little bit of that domination and we'll have it complete by the time the PS3 is released and it will be called Resistance. No, Sony sits down with them and says that FPS's are dominating the market we would like to have one ready for the release of our upcoming PS3 system. Big guns and explosions and Aliens and tough guys with no character, etc. are very popular with the consumer base we are going after, now go develop a game. Insomniac comes back later and says ok we have this idea of an alien invasion but it's not from the sky like in most movies, it's through a virus that starts in Russia and spreads out to England. We have prototypes of weapons and what the environment might looks like and the game takes place in England. Then Sony says we like that it takes place in England but the market we're really going after is the West so can we change the main character to American? Insomniac says ok and creates a story as to why there is an American fighting in England. Then Insomniac will go and start developing the game and every few weeks or month will sit down with "Sony" and discuss how the game is coming along, what changes need to be made, what they really like, etc. Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain, and many others may not have started the initial idea for the game like Resistance because obviously the Sony relationship was not established yet but once they met with Sony you better believe Sony was already helping shape the game to be successful.
I think we all will agree that Media Molecule is the creative force behind Little Big Planet, Sucker Punch is the creative force behind Infamous, etc. but to think that those games would be the same exact games if they were released on a different system is very misguided. Sony does have a hand in helping shape their games whether the developer is Sony owned or not.
