Forums - Microsoft - MS: "No intention of abandoning core"

I wonder when the friend list will be increased.  Mine is maxed out over XBox Live, due to myself running weekly events.  I had to spin off silver accounts to manage things.  One thing HUGE about being able to go over 100 is that it would make doing Pinball FX2 weekly tournaments be able to have large number of players involved, without forking off more silver accounts.

MS has multiple focuses because they have multiple studios, so they can definitely cater to both.

I don't think you realize how few they have

1st Party

343 Industries: A studio set up to develop future Halo related productions.[6] (pretty obvious they are working on next halo)

BigPark: Kinect Joy Ride. (working on kinect)

Good Science Studio: Kinect Adventures[7] (working on kinect)

Lionhead Studios: Black & White series, Fable series. (fable and maybe kinect)

MGS Mobile Gaming: focused on bringing games and entertainment to the Windows Phone 7. (phone games only, outside chance of port to xbl for some of them)

Rare Ltd.: Banjo-Kazooie series, Battletoads series, Conker series, Perfect Dark series, Viva Piñata series, Kinect Sports (working on kinect and maybe more n64 games for xbl)

Turn 10 Studios: Forza Motorsport series. (forza only obviously)

Xbox Live Productions: Fable II Pub Games, South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! (either phone or xbl games)

Wingnut Interactive: A studio set up in partnership with Peter Jackson to produce "filmic games". (only one we don't know what they are working on)

3rd Party Affiliates

Bungie: Halo Series (went multiplat)

Epic Games: Gears Of War series (going multiplat, gears 3 last exclusive)

feelplus: Lost Odyssey, Ninety-Nine Nights II. (all current projects multiplat)

Frontier Developments: Kinectimals. (working on kinect)

Mistwalker: Lost Odyssey. (haven't worked on a 360 game since 2007)

Remedy Entertainment: Alan Wake. (Either MS is paying them for a sequel to alan wake or they went back to multiplat)

Robot Entertainment: Age of Empires Online. (never made a console game)

Ruffian Games: Crackdown 2. (This one looks like they might be working on something for MSes core audience)

Sarbakan: Lazy Raiders. (XBL game or xbl/psn game)

Signal Studios: Toy Soldiers. (only released one game, could go multiplat could be working on something else, no information at all)

Silicon Knights: Too Human. (working on multiplats currently)

Ska Studios: The Dishwasher (dishwasher sequel other xbl game)

So anyways that means that MS has a few developers which might be working on a core exclusive for ps3 that hasn't been announced yet, some of which might be working on a multiplat, not looking good for their promise

source? Let me guess... You have none.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

You really don't realize that the list was copy and pasted off wiki, you are really going to make me post it, click the links of the developers and it will confirm almost everything I've said, a few things are just common sense which may or may not be spelled out for you

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Game_Studios

EDIT: if my source isn't reliable enough for you feel free to post anything more reliable that clearly states something besides what mine states, if you can not find anything more reliable don't argue the reliability

Good news, they need to show more of the 'core' 2011 lineup!

Is this statement meant in the same way as their yearly commitment to the PC platform or do they really mean what they say?

I put all their studios up and what they are or are probably working on you be the judge

Well that's good to know, but it's really a no-brainer. They won't just give up the very market that put the 360 where it is, the very market responsible for many midnight launches, the rise of the shooter genre on console, and the bread and butter of Xbox LIVE. Even with their dip into the casual, family friendly market, the 360, at it's heart, is a core machine.

Since they've proven they can support both the family market & core market simulatneously, the system is in a fantastic position right now.

Summary:

Shooters, Xbox Live, and casuals.  Nothing new.

That's good news for sure. However I believe they need to start showing it rather than talking about it.

What you and snesboy said, but I know for sure that it looks like microsoft abandoned the eastern demographic core (the demographic that I strongly fall under), since it doesn't look like any JRPG is coming to them, and Ace Combat is now becoming westernized.

Can you blame them? The sales in Japan are abysmal. And most JRPGs, FFXIII excluded struggle to break a million. Besides didn't they have a contract of sorts for 3 exclusive JRPGs from some developer, but I think all 3 of those are out now. Not much Japanese love left!

I can't blame them, but that was the reason why I got the console. Given I am western orientated gamer as well, I just don't like Halo and Gears.

Let's see this list is horribly flawed and I definitely wouldn't believe half the stuff on wiki..

Crytek (6 years partnership with MS - I would take this one over any 1st party on the PS3)

Firebird

Epic (will be acquired before Gears is released)

Remedy (will be acquired before Alan Wake is announced)

343

Mistwalker

THQ (working on 2 exclusives for 360 currently)

Rare (working on AAA exclusive for core audience)

Lionhead

Turn 10

2K Marin (currently doing XCOM)

Ruffian

plenty of unannounced information, MS will be loaded in 2011-12 mark my words..

I would knock of mistwalker, they don't really care for MS...as much as it looks like they don't want to work for sony. They have the option of going to Nintendo.

Working on a multiplat and a pc/360 game that may or may not end up on ps3

Firebird

Never even heard of this source please

Epic (will be acquired before Gears is released)

Already working on a multiplat no way MS is going to acquire it, EA probably will

Remedy (will be acquired before Alan Wake is announced)

assuming you mean Alan Wake 2, maybe, maybe not, again either they are going back to multiplat or making alan wake 2

343

Yeah Yeah working on halo we know

Mistwalker

Nintendo DS

ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat (2007) co-developed by Racjin

Blue Dragon Plus (2008) co-developed by Brownie Brown and Feelplus

Away: Shuffle Dungeon (2008) co-developed by Artoon

Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow (2009/2010) co-developed by tri-Crescendo and Bird Studios

[Xbox 360-Blue Dragon (2006) co-developed by Artoon

Lost Odyssey (2007) co-developed by Feelplus

iPhone-Untitled project (TBA) [1]

Wii-The Last Story (2011)

Not working on anything 360 related, haven't been in a long time

THQ (working on 2 exclusives for 360 currently)

Source?

Rare (working on AAA exclusive for core audience)

More likely Kinect game

Lionhead

Either fable or kinect, common sense here

Turn 10

Forza only we know

2K Marin (currently doing XCOM)

Not exclusive, currently 360/pc, MS owns no rights and has no ties, strong possibility it will go to ps3 if successful

Ruffian

Stated that they are probably working on core

plenty of unannounced information, MS will be loaded in 2011-12 mark my words..

Sincerely doubt it, you added firebird and some pc/360 games to what I already had
