Oh yes I almost forgot the Sakaguchi issue... I f this guy is to blame, it's for releasing The Last  Story on Wii! Honestly did he do a proper market analysis before this? PS3 RPG sales per system sold is way higher on PS3 than on Wii! However ambitious the Last Story might be, releasing it on Wii makes it not ambitious at all.

The Last Story is a 1st party game.  If it wasn't on Wii, it likely wouldn't exist.

Maybe Gooch looked at overall software sales and noticed Wii games can actually pass multiple millions?  That's what the mainstream does for you, that's mainly why Wii got Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest.  I hope for the best with The Last Story, but I doubt it's the sort of game that would pass 500k on any system... being on PS3 wouldn't have helped.  At least on Wii it's been paid for by Nintendo.

Lost Odyessy made it past 500k and that was on the 360 a system that is tanking in Japan. Last story will make it past 500k easily if advertised properly

LOL!, Japanese fanboys/girls will never let the FF franchise die.

I think they kind of are tbh man. the sales in Japan have never been so weak since before FF5, thats more than what 15 years ago. even if its slow, its still declining. as for Europe and the US, imo after looking at previous sales for the European region, it seems that the EU's fanbase is not reliable and irratic. for the US the sales have always been reliable and strong.

however a lot of people keep saying that the PS3 version of FF13 outsold the 360 version of Mass Effect 2. well heres the problem the 360 version of Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2, have both outsold the 360 version of FF13.

if theres a chance that success can be replicated when Mass Effect 3 launches on the PS3 and 360 similtaneously, then its possible that the US (who love ME) and the EU will choose a new faviourite console RPG. not to mention new Mass Effect games are coming out more frequently than FF, so imo there is a serious problem if Mass Effect 2 generates some good sales on the PS3.

FF XIII killed the franchise

Thats not a problem considering mass effect 1 came out way before ff13 and ff13 for the 360 could eventually outsell mass effect 1 not sure about 2 though. And isnt mass effect 3 supposed to be the last one considering its a trilogy and if thats the case i dont see the series gaining popularity after the next one is done selling.

I expect FF to be around at least until FFXXIX

They wouldn't make a game called FF XXX lols.Or would they?

I'm sure when the finish up with Mass Effect 3, they will think about doing another series of Mass Effect games, possibily in the same universe with different characters. Bioware are owned by EA now, and they have a massive oppertunity to have a continuous franchise, that generates industry awards and revenue on a consistant basis, so i suspect that the IP will be used again. yeah and FF13 was bundled with 360 consoles as well, both games are in the 360 bargain bin now, so i'm not sure where they will end up, but i think both sales have dropped off now anyway.
