Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft Denies Kinect 'Red Ringing' Claims

IGN

Microsoft has denied claims its motion-sensing camera Kinect can cause older Xbox 360 models to fall victim to the infamous 'three red lights' error, causing the console to fail. According to a report from the BBC, numerous owners of the pre-slim Xbox 360 consoles have reported failures on message boards and forums shortly after plugging in Kinect. "We plugged it in the day we got it but only played it a few times before we got the red lights. The next day when we tried it again we still had the red rings of death and haven't been able to use it since," console owner Adam Winnifrith told BBC Radio in a separate interview. Microsoft said console failures after plugging in Kinect are not related whatsoever. "There is no correlation between the three flashing red lights error and Kinect. Any new instances of the three flashing red lights error are merely coincidental," the company stated.

Sorry Microsoft PR, I like to trust you but you did take awhile to even say RROD is real.

sucks for them but I doubt it's anything to do with it... as the failures were connected to element that are not related to the kinect... GPU etc.... I really think they had it coming and it happened when they got kinect (it was chrsitmas).... one way oe the other the result is the same anyway... but they'll be happy to have slim anyway... just for the noise... if you use it to watch movies it is so much better....

"Any new instances of the three flashing red lights error, if such a thing even exists, are merely coincidental," the company stated.

What I read.

Did you know that NXE also caused the RRoD :o

Truth is is that if something big comes out and you get the RRoD of course they are going to blame it >_>

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

I don't think there is anything about Kinect that is causing these systems to red-ring, and I suspect if these people bought (pretty much) any game and played it for the same amount of time as they played Kinect their XBox 360 would red-ring.

Old 360s RROD, thats just the way it is. If people were concerned then they should got a new 360 or another console, (that is if MS wont fix your Box)

oh and didnt MS at one point flat out deny the RROD problem??? Something to think about
