Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo 3DS smuggled off a Chinese assembly line

Also, as anyone who's been following Nintendo throughout the recent years should know, the big white button is the WIN button!! :P

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

So it has 96MB total system RAM?  Probably 64MB for game data and 32MB for the OS/browser/wireless?  I bet there's also dedicated memory pools on the GPU(s?).

Main RAM counts for other similarly classed consoles for comparison (not including flash memory)...

  • Wii: 91MB (3MB GPU integrated, 24MB main, 64MB GDDR3)
  • Xbox: 64MB (unified)
  • PSP2000/3000/Go: 64MB (only 24MB allowed for game data, 8MB reserved for OS, 32MB for bkgd)
  • GameCube: 43MB (3MB GPU integrated, 24MB main, 16MB "slow" ARAM)
  • PlayStation 2: 36MB (32MB main, 4MB Video)
  • PSP1000: 32MB (only 24MB allowed for game data, 8MB reserved for OS)
  • Dreamcast: 26MB (16MB main, 8MB Video, 2MB Audio)

nice to see it has 96 MB of RAM though that could just be for the SDK... I hope the retail unit has just as much... this thing is practically a portable Wii ;D

Regarding FPS games, I'm still a bit skeptical about being able to view the 3D effect while tilting the machine... I hope that's something thay work out at an early stage.

You can still move it around without tilting it. It is when you tilt it you lose the 3D effect.

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I'm always a little skeptical about news like this, but this seems plausable ...

With that said, I just realized that the 3DS isn't that far from being launched and yet we still know very little about it.

I'm less interested in the mAh as I am with the battery life ...

Sweet. Looks legitimate to me.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

i wonder if nintendo has sent their assasins after this guy yet
