Forums - Microsoft - HELP! Strict and Moderate NAT

What's up people, I'm putting my feelers out to this community looking for a little help with my router/Xbox settings. Here's the deal. I have 3 Xboxes  (wired) and my PC (wireless) connected to a new Linksys e2000 router. I can play on all three consoles but I can only get an open NAT on one console and the other two either have a strict or moderate NAT. Now I searched online for solutions and the only thing I've tried is port range triggering, 53, 80, 88 and 3074. I have UPnP enabled as well. I'm a total noob with this shit so any help would be awesome. Remember to speak slowly and try not to use too big of computer geek words on me. Thanks

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I'm pretty sure regardless if you have more than one Xbox on your NAT at once it still will be Strict. Mine drops to strict alot when the stupid neighbor kids steal my internet. Try to remove port forwarding, if you have a Linksys nothing will help.

hmm I'm pretty sure linksys hace a DMZ mode just put your XB IPs in that list and enable... or in anything like that ("outside of your nat firewall")

Not sure about three but this is what I did for two.

The ports are 53, 80, 88, and 3074. For two Xbox consoles use those ports and since you are trying to connect to a server, what you need to do is to use Port Range Triggering. You can't use Port Range Forwarding since it will only set those ports into listening mode to the IP address you set it. So if you use Port Range Forwarding it will only be open/available to one console(the one using the IP address).

You need to use PORT RANGE TRIGGERING. Disable Port Range Forwarding and DMZ. You need to enable UPnP as well if your Linksys router has this option (some other models don't have this option but it is said to be enabled in default settings according to their tech support).

To solve the lag problem set your MTU size to 1364. This settings will work even if you have one or multiple consoles running behind the router.

if you need more help let me know. I will try.

I also think that I had three at once when my brother came over and we did not have a problem.

set static IPs and open port tirggering for the xbxo ports on the related IPs. or manage them into seperate vlans to avoid issues with routing that happen on multi xbox setups (multi xboxs can cause mtu failure even when the mtu is above min size ) ... live is funky that way

Check out http://portforward.com/

First page is where you select your router, then on second page just select Xbox Live, it basically tells you exactly which ports to open in order to have OPEN NAT, not sure if that's what you're looking for though.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Here is an update to the situation I was dealing with.

I ended up flashing the Linksys e2000 with DD-WRT and now I have all 3 boxes that show open NAT while gaming online. If anyone stumbles upon this thread while looking for a solution, I suggest heading over to the DD-WRT website, check their router database and go from there. It was a very frustrating process searching the net and trying all sorts of different settings on the router with thge stock firmware. Flashing DD-WRT was easy and now I have an awesome router. Just read up first and follow the directions they provide on their site. I hope this is helpful.
