Kind of duplicate thread

Am I missing something or does the OP in that thread have a video showing how the PS3 was hacked?

edit: seems they don't give specific instructions in how to hack a PS3 but instead talk about how they did it in more generalities which is fine.  Guess that thread is fine.

jeez...I guess it's all down to the few honest gamers who choose to maintain the authenticity of their machines.

Here's an idea: come down off your high horse and use your head for a second.

I paid good money for my PS3, and one of the reasons I did so was because of its ability to run Linux. This was an advertised feature.

But Sony decided to take that ability away from me, even though I am not a pirate.

I am definitely reinstalling Linux on my PS3. I am regaining functionality that I paid for, and Sony can eat shit if they have a problem with it.

And your going to depend on a hacker who caused Sony to remove the feature away from you in the first place.

I understand that your angry at Sony but once you sign their online agreement pretty much done from there dude.

You're saying that I should be alright with the fact that Sony is punishing me for something I had nothing to do with?

When will people learn that you can't punish legitimate users for what pirates do? Then you piss off everyone, and you get this sort of backlash.

and now you're punishing Sony for something they had no hand in?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

@Lanceuppercut

You weren't the only one punished. I, a PS3 user, was as well. Other OS a feature that my current PS3 cannot use anymore. But I respect that Sony has the right to manage their products online. Like many other companies who employ the same authority over their products.

If you would still like to use Linux, maybe you can downgrade to a previous firmware? Or does that require custom firmwares...I guess not hooking it up to the internet would be the best course of action I presume.

@ Lanceuppercut -continued-

Was Sony's removal of the Other OS feature a move on their part or because Hackers like GeoHot were exploiting that feature for reasons that were beyond its intent?

I like the idea of having a better web browser, more features, etc. I just dont like te fact that people will be downloading game illegally from this. The devs spend many hours to create the best experience possible to make a living and then people wnat to download games illegeally?

Here's a question someone asked on gamefaqs: Now that the ps3 systems are hacked, how safe is your ps3 from Malware and crap like that?

I assume it's safe unless you go around downloading homebrew apps (and that's true for any homebrew app).
