Forums - Nintendo - Soul Caliburt V on Wii - Facebook petition

Oniyide your Soul Calibur question is easily answersed. Nintendo console owners have been told by third party developers that they don't release games on Nintendo platforms because they don't buy third party games, but in SC2's case the GC version sold the best and SC3 went PS2 exclusive.

In the case of the Wii, 3rd party developers say it would cost to much money or it would not be possible to port HD titles to Wii because of underpowered hardware. SCIV and Tekken 6 being released for PSP throws up a huge BS flag. Especially when PSP software sales outside of Japan are terrible. To top it off you have developers like Treyarch, who have been called lazy by certain HD Console fanboys, porting HD games like COD4 and COD: BO to Wii with relative ease.

Are you people joking???? HD gamers dont complain near as much as the Ninty guys about not getting games. for god's sake there are STILL people crying about DeadSpace, RE5, SSF4, SC4, GTA hell the list goes on and on.

@lordtheknight  even more reason to stop complaining, if this crap hasnt changed in four years what makes you think that 3rd parties will all of a sudden start to care. At least switch up your tactics because what fans have been doing cleary does not work

No, that's basically saying we should admit they are right when that is not the case.

But on the basis of making them listen, it's still about principle. It's about making it clear who is to blame, because it is NOT us. We buy the games when they are worth buying. They are to blame, and we will not let that stop being said.

Any injustice ignored is the same as condoning it, even if this is admittedly a really minor one (in the form of neglecting customers and blaming us for their screw ups). That still qualifies as "any".

I disagree. Pretty much every 3rd party Wii exclusive worth wanting (which admittedly is a shorter list) has had its own degree of "this should've been on PS360" much like many of the games on PS360 that would have been a good fit for Wii. Also there's a bit of confusion with game envy vs franchise envy, in that some Wii owners wanted a dead space, not the dead space, and certainly not the dead space they sent our way for $50 and then later decided the game was worth $0 as a PSN pack-in. Similarly with GTA, though that's more on the DS side

Street Fighter and Soul Calibur were more a case of pointing out third parties "we'll gladly put it on any platform that doesn't start with an N" mentality, where they'll go for PSP or iPhone with ease, but never touch Wii (or to an extent, DS for some of the worse offenders like iD, Epic, and Bethesda). Street Fighter IV ended up on iPhone and Soul Calibur on PSP (as we've been discussing here)

Monster Hunter 3 and Dragon Quest X have probably generated the most consternation from HD-only gamers so far, DQX easily generating as much angst as Resident Evil 5 did

And before someone counters with "They support the 3DS", it's only because they know they can't drop the ball this time. They still want to pretend they can ignore the other systems, despite them selling so well. And even then not all the developers are supporting the 3DS (Take Two, for one).

lol.  All evidence except for the stuff cited right above you (DBZ, Naruto, TatsuCap).

If we based PS2's fighter sales potential off MVC2, GGX and Death by Degrees, what do you think it'd look like?

It would look like someone didn't research, MvC2 on PS2 was pulled from shelves very shorty after release because the license with Marvel expired.   It also cost next to nothing to develop since it was literally 90% cut and paste characters from previous Capcom fighters, not to mention arcades still being much more popular back then bringing in cash.  Any arcades now are not going to use the Wii version which would require its own development.

lol, research?  Practice what you preach...

1) MVC2 was not pulled from shelves, on any platform.  Capcom stopped new shipments due the license lapsing a full year after it had released on PS2 in late 2002 (the Xbox port released a few months later in early 2003, it was delayed due to back and forth on online play).  TVC on Wii has been on shelves less time than Capcom was doing new shipments for MVC2 PS2, and MVC2 was never recalled on any platform (that's not how expired licenses work, you stop new shipments, you don't buyback inventories already out there)...

2) "Any arcades now are not going to use the Wii version which would require its own development."?  Uh, you know this is exactly what Capcom did with TVC right?

I'm telling you people, I don't really blame the companies for doing business the way they are doing it. It's their business. Let them do it.

Sure, I won't buy a copy of Street Fighter 4 because they did not give me a Wii version and so I don't care for the one on 3DS anymore (the hype just isn't there for me, I never experienced it, why should I be excited for it). I will probably never care for many more great franchises because of the same reason. Why should the companies bother though. They don't want my money, I don't care about giving the money to them. I have plenty more opportunities to spend it.

I'm still going to point out what they are doing is wrong, as well as boycott those I feel are really disrespecting customers.

@darc requim  that whole comment by Namco about Wii customers is a bit messed up I give you that. But as for porting alot of people dont realize its just not as easy as they think just because the WIi is weaker does not make it any easier to port. The fact is that the more different the hardware the harder it is, the PSP is hardware is hella easy to develop for, thats why you see all those ports of games on their. For PS360 are closer together thats why they share so much games, why would a company go through so much work porting something to Wii from HD, which the games usually arent made for it anyway??? and 90% of the time the Wii version of said game sells worse than the HD ones. Talk about principles all you want, but this is buisness and principles dont pay bills.

@lordtheknight admitting defeat??? one your taking it too seriously and two you've already lost for the most part its not like the Wii situation has improved. Excuse my French but I think your just washing s*** against the tide at this point, but why even complain here why not send a letter to the actually companies that piss you off??? Thats what I've done, sure it dont work but hey I could say I tried. not blaming gamers either, but I see that you want to boycott their games which is ironic because in that case you are proving them right. I dont see the big deal honestly im a gamer first im going where the games are. If some console is getting the shaft, that sucks for people who bought it, ill just get the console that has support. As for 3DS, nothing to do with Wii, 3rd parties have always supported Ninty portables because they know that its a damn near sure bet

@jarrod thats all well and good but using the MVC2 #s is false anyway because we have no data on how much was sold in Europe & Americas on any platform. It wouldnt surprise me if the PS2 version alone outsold Tvs.C

@cobra im with you on the first part, but not SF4 love that series to much

No, that would only apply if I boycotted their Wii games but bought their other stuff. I gave no such qualifier.

And it's not really to change their minds (as even if I forced them to support the Wii at gunpoint, they would still likely try to sabotage their efforts), but to state this to people other than them who would listen and might be able to change this situation. HVS is listening for one (it doesn't matter if they aren't as skilled as experienced developers; those experienced developers aren't willing to try at all).

@lordtheknight  unfortuanetly its those experienced developers that should be working on the Wii, not these 2nd raters. But WTH??? nothing we can do about, you'll do what you think is best, ill play whatever on whatever system and the world spins.
