I'm not even gonna disimulate my bias:
| RolStoppable said: I haven't watched a whole lot of trailers this year, but anything that showed (nearly) no gameplay scenes is an instant winner for this title. Metroid: Other M had such a trailer, so I'll go with that. |
That doesn't count, the debut trailer for the game was a year ago.

The debut trailer of Other M showed gameplay segments. This year there was one particular MOM trailer that focused entirely on showing off prerendered cutscenes. |
But you already knew what the game was about, so it was not an unveiling or something.... so you could live with it (unlike Zelda)

Nowhere does this thread read that it's solely about debut trailers, so my point stands. Zelda's debut trailer may have failed to show the scope of the game world, but it was a nice montage of what to expect from it in terms of Motion Plus support. You are only hating on the game because deep down in your heart you know that it's going to be superior to Twilight Princess. |
I wish, but Twilight Princess was so deep and real that took Zelda to another level.
So far Skyward Sword seems as unpolished and gimmicky as the DS games, they introduced it like a DS game.

No way, because in SS you control Link directly while in the DS games it's basically like using a mouse to manipulate objects on the screen which led to Link's combat skills taking a backseat. In SS the swordfighting will take the spotlight, making it the complete opposite of the DS games. I am not sure where you are getting from that SS is unpolished, unless you base your statement on Miyamoto's stage demo at E3. |
I mean in gimmicks.
TP was introduced with dark mature artstyle and pure sword combat, and that's what we got.
Now Nintendo puts a beetle as a Link's weapon, huge controls on sides to attract the casual crowd, more "friendly" artstyle that looks bad and odd ways to use your skills.
Probably the one for Tron Legacy. It's all over the place and I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on in it.
Trailers aren't what they used to be and we'll never see one as great as the ones for Top Gun ever again.
