JRPGS this gen have been very disappointing in both sales and quality (with very few exceptions). Monster Hunter is the new THING in Japan now and is now one of those top games to buy in Japan (Especially on handhelds). The Last Story may perform poorly because it isn't very hyped anyway. Don't put ur hopes too high as everytime this has happened with a lot of games this gen, the game turns out being much less than what one would expect from it.

In Japan, imo it will be bigger than FF13. it will sell more than 2 mil copies in Japan i think. the Wii userbase is enormous as well, so there is definitly an oppertunity in other teritories.

if you look at the way Nintendo has marketed Dragon Quest 9, especailly here in the UK and across the EU, it has done well.

i think The Last Story will sell more than FF12 and maybe more than FF13, but i think that FF10s sales and FF7s are beyond reach for the moment. i think its about to be released in Japan, so we'll see. but definitly in Japan, it will be bigger than FF13, in Europe and US there is potential there.

but we could end up with Dragon Quest 9 sales, with 3/4 mil in Japan, and maybe 1 mil in EU and US. but i think it will be huge, Nintendo marketed Dragon Quest very well in the EU, so i think this will do very well across all regions.

Nah - it'll never happen. I doubt it to sell much anywhere outside of Japan.

To the people saying "But it's a new IP!"...so was Gears of War...and Assassin's Creed.

One day maybe. But who knows, anything is possible...

If Nintendo wants it to be big, and puts their weight behind it, then it could sell well.

I doubt it will outsell FFXIII. If the above is true, then i might do so in a second or third game - assuming it becomes a franchise.

i think it can in time, but maybe after a 3rd game, but i would want a sequel to  :  LOST ODYSSEY 1st from him then a sequel to the last story.

Exactly, FF7 was a new IP in Europe when it sold 2.7 mil in that region, not to mention i think FF7 wouldve been a lot higher in Europe if it was made availble. i bought 2 pre owned copies, which i lent to 2 friends, who ended up buying pre owned copies themselves.

and FF7 was like a new IP in the US when it sold 3m and went on to sell near 10mil worldwide. The Last Story has this oppertunity because i think Nintendo will spend a lot of money on marketing, not to mention i think Sakaguchis name will carry a lot of weight in the west for RPGs fans.
