For my birthday this year I actually bought myself a bottle of Macallan 18.

That is a lot of dough for a bottle of Scotch. In Cali, we have BevMo! the Wal-Mart of liquor stores and BevMo! sells 18 yr Macallan for around $150 online.

Is the older Scotch better than the younger?

That's about what it is here, though I found it on sell so I got it for about $130 which is still a lot but it was for my birthday.

And yes, the older the scotch, the better it is.  I've had the 12, 15, 18, and 25 year Macallan and they're all amazing and only get better with age.  The barrel they're matured in also has a lot to do with how they taste.  I'm a giant Macallan whore so that's generally what I stick to but I only like the ones aged in the sherry oak barrels, not the fine oak.

Speaks nothing but truth right here.

I'm very partial to Macallan myself.   I've not had the 25 yet but am working acquiring a bottle.  The 18 and cask strengths being my favorites thus far.

Following the Macallan, I'll take Glenmorangie, McClelland's (Islay) and Glenlevit.

And or all those considering scotch for the first time, single malt is the only way to go.

expensive enough

Think for yourself, question authority

I tried black label once and found it pretty nice. a friend decided to go big on his birthday and broke out a Gold label he was hiding in his cellar. Very, very specific, have to get used to the taste, but very good in general.

Truthfully i prefer the different varieties of vodka. Not sure if many of you drink it but there is a significant difference in quality depending on what you drink.

As far as beer goes, nothing will ever convince me that there is something better than unpasteurized honey beer. Yum. Actually have a whole crate coming with me to the new years.

If i lose access to this profile as well....I'm done with this site.....You've been warned!!.....whoever you are...

Happy Wii60 user. Me and my family are a perfect example of where hardcore meets casual and together mutate into something awesome.

Not a big scotch whiskey guy but if I ever do actually drink it I go with Johnny Walker. Green isn't bad, I hate black and red, blue is pretty good, but I have found gold label to taste the best.

I prefer to drink my liquor from a shooter.

So for you scotch/whisky drinkers out there, what's your brand?

For my everyday scotch, I generally like Johnny Walker Black with a few cubes of ice.  When I want to be fancy, I generally have a bottle of The Macallan 12 handy and drink that neat.

For my birthday this year I actually bought myself a bottle of Macallan 18.

I would drink with you anytime.  Good choices.

Im personally a big fan of "smokey" scotch.  The smokier the better.

Since 2000, The Famous Grouse.

Whatever, I mix with cola.

:heretic:

How dare you mix such sophistication with a classless liquid.

Unless it's Dewar's.  You can mix that with anything and it would be an upgrade. That stuff is unfit to carry the name scotch.

Hey, you could even make your own!  Trashleg Single Malt!    Too bad that to try your first 12yrs we'd have to wait actually, er... 12 years, if you start now!
