Ok so the reason im asking this is because ever since One Piece reached the marine vs whitebeard war, i feel many have had to recap on older events like myself.
Now it ain't just me, this year in japan 32 million One Piece manga copies were sold, more than half of those were copies that weren't released this year. It just shows how interesting this manga is when your 60th volume breaks the first week record for any manga ever in japan!
Now i myself felt that I've forgotten so many key parts(yes i didn't even know who don flamingo was in the war arc :P), so it just occurred to me i had to reread this manga. And now i just finshed off with Thriller Bark, and i've got to say Oda is a fucking GENIUS! On my second read i think i've just realized how good the story is, and how Oda can connect and link so many events together over a huge time gap! Bleach wouldnt have had this many content in 200 volumes!
Oda is just so good at advancing with the main story subtly and at the mean time distracting us with other side stories that are linked sooo well with the main story. Characters you have once forgotten reappear out of nowhere(Cody anyone?) And once you reread one piece you can notice this small details that are so well done and you appreciate them even more.
In my conclusion i did this just to say my hats of to Oda as nothing even comes close to what One Piece is as a shonen manga! And i refused to believe that until i started reading one piece a year ago. I would recommend re-reading this manga :P. YES RE-READING! My opinion is that re-reading One Piece is better than starting with other manga and by a long shot!
