Forums - General - Who here has RE-READ One Piece this year? *Manga Spoilers*

Ok so the reason im asking this is because ever since One Piece reached the marine vs whitebeard war, i feel many have had to recap on older events like myself.

Now it ain't just me, this year in japan 32 million One Piece manga copies were sold, more than half of those were copies that weren't released this year. It just shows how interesting this manga is when your 60th volume breaks the first week record for any manga ever in japan!

Now i myself felt that I've forgotten so many key parts(yes i didn't even know who don flamingo was in the war arc :P), so it just occurred to me i had to reread this manga. And now i just finshed off with Thriller Bark, and i've got to say Oda is a fucking GENIUS! On my second read i think i've just realized how good the story is, and how Oda can connect and link so many events together over a huge time gap! Bleach wouldnt have had this many content in 200 volumes!

Oda is just so good at advancing with the main story subtly and at the mean time distracting us with other side stories that are linked sooo well with the main story. Characters you have once forgotten reappear out of nowhere(Cody anyone?) And once you reread one piece you can notice this small details that are so well done and you appreciate them even more.

In my conclusion i did this just to say my hats of to Oda as nothing even comes close to what One Piece is as a shonen manga! And i refused to believe that until i started reading one piece a year ago. I would recommend re-reading this manga :P. YES RE-READING! My opinion is that re-reading One Piece is better than starting with other manga and by a long shot!

I somewhat have, at first I catched up with the anime in the episode when everyone is sent flying to different islands, then after that I started to read the manga. Last month however I started to read the whole manga since the beggining and I finished it Saturday.

Above: still the best game of the year.

How did you find the second read?

I found it very enjoyable, especially noting the differences between the manga and the anime and the little side stories that are in the cap of the chapter! It pisses me off a lot that the anime guys didn't do more "fillers" with those side stories, like when Enel gets to the moon or what happened to the CP9.

Rereading the whole thing is for someone with a bit more free time on their hands than i (and considering i'm at home for the whole winter and unemployed atm, that says a lot), though i'll make it a Christmas gift to myself to re-read everything post time-skip. I think i read up until their actual departure from Sabaody when Coribou started chasing them, and am unaware of what follows, though i've heard rumor of a Kraken

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I wanted to see the anime do the mini-arcs with Gedatsu (the one dude from Skypiea), like "The Great Gedatsu must remember to breathe" or "The Great Gedatsu must remember to blink"

I only read 3 chapters of the new one piece. But i also heard of a kraken! lol

I cant wait now!Rereading it definitely helped me remember many stuff and some details that can be useful later on. I'm now in the chapter when Duval appears :D funny stuff

No way will I ever waste my time like this again.

I've watched all of the anime and read the manga to the last episode out, and I just have to say that there are so, so many, so much better mangas around, ones that don't take 600 episodes and 430~ anime episodes to become not just really good, but WAY better than One Piece.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.
