Well, I kinda guessed the US was the only one that far, what with all the extra money we spend on technology. I just thought maybe there would be policies already decided one way or another.

This has already started for years, it's just that they're officially talking about it now x)

Synthetic life is, to be colloquial, the shiz. We're going to be able to do so much with this.

The problem is that almost anything that can be used for the greater good can also be utilised for the greatest bad.
Although there is a lot of good this kind of research can do for mankind, when the Pentagon is mentioned in the same breath (as it was a few months back) it requires a bit of thought.
Many great inventions started life in the military.
The Pentagon has invested in Synthentic organisms - with the so-called Molecular kill-switch.
It amazing some of you only consider the good that can come from this research...that's OK.
This first and foremost has a military objective and if you think otherwise you need to wake up.

I'd be more worried that it'd be artifical biological weaponry that "Derepairs" them more then I worried about an army of Captain Americas.
As for the "negative" things it can be used for, I don't think people are discounting t, they just don't care.
No doubt this WILL be used for bad things... but also good things.... and as it is with technology, the bad rarely outweighs the good in the longrun and their is no profit, balance or reasoning in standing in the way of progress.
