Forums - Sony - Anyone know how to run a SNES emulator on a PSP ?

As far as I know, psp can not be flashed to run homebrew and emulation if above 5.03 firmware.

Once flashed they can support games which require latest firmware, but you can't flashed if they have been upgraded.

Pretty much right, the firmware itself doesn't have anything to do with flashing, it depends on the motherboard in place. 1000s and most 2000s can be flashed, regardless of the firmware. 3000s cannot be flashed period, there are various exploits that allow you to launch a cfw while the system is on, but resets every time it's put into sleep mode or turned off. Also I'm pretty sure as of right now 6.35 has no working exploits, though a downgrader to 6.20 might be out or coming out real soon, dunno I have a 1000 series so I don't really have to keep up with any of this.

Whoa, you've just reminded me that I have an old PSP 1000 with a broken thumbstick. I could probably put some SNES games on it and just use the D-Pad.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

You can't flash a 3000 series PSP, there are certain exploits for the later ones that allow you to run homebrew, but you can't perminately install a custom firmware on it. I'd tell you what you could do more detailed, but they'd ban me, so use google.

PM me

Besides, I just want to run a SNES emulator...whats wrong with that ?

Its starts innocently enough.....and then you are running youporn on your psp with the youtube app.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

Yeah, I was going to post the same thing, obviously not word for word, but y'know, lol. Also, I'm not sure if there's been a work around yet, but the last I heard, the CFW for PSP-3000 can, if you aren't careful, brick your PSP.

If I were you, I'd just stick to being legit and playing proper PSP games, and download a SNES emulator on your PC for these things, lol.

NOOOOO !!!! I wanted UMK3 on my PSP -_-

And people have all these other cool apps developed too :/

Any flashing or exploit use CAN brick your PSP, if you do it wrong. with the 3000s you don't have the option of being able to use a pandora battery to unbrick it, so yes it's a bit more risky. My personal suggestion would be to pick up a 1000 or early 2000 series PSP, the 3000s are nice and all, but if you're interested in emulation you want to pick up something that you can flash, I run several emulators on my PSP and it's great, plus the ability to easily transfer PS1 games to the PSP makes it even better.

I don't suppose you can tell me how that is done

Again, not here, I was banned once before for posting a very very small statement about the process of running PS1 games on a PSP, I don't intend to get banned again. Feel free to email me any questions though dystopiapro@gmail.com. I personally see no problem with transfering ones own owned PS1 games to PSP bootable files, I have a massive PS1 collection and the idea of having to repurchase all my PS1 games just so I could play them on my PSP is stupid, since I already paid for them once.

You can run homebrew apps on a PSP-3000 with v6.31 firmware (it's commonly thought on the internet that PSP-3000 is homebrew proof but that's not the case. You just can't load ISOs on PSP-3000s with anything later than v5.01 firmware. But you can play roms on emulators and do a bunch of other stuff with v6.31. According to the people who take part in the PSP homebrew scene.)

For v6.35, you are probably SOL if the hackers haven't found an exploit for that version yet. I haven't visited those PSP homebrew sites in a couple months so maybe they've made some progress I don't know about.

I haven't personally trying running the exploit for my PSP though (Peacewalker model Green PSP with v6.31. Came with v6.20 out of the box but I upgraded the firmware). That would require me to rent or buy a certain PSP game. I can't be arsed to do that right now. I have like 3 PSP games on hand at the moment that I haven't beaten that I could play anyway.
