Stop offtopicin in my off-topic thread! And why won't you comment on my OP?

It's alright, but it needs more polish. Your pictures with funny captions aren't going to feel fresh forever, so you better improve the other things in the future. And by the way, it's not "treasure hunting Mario", it's "star finder Mario".

I thought taht since Nintendo Published it and Produced it, doesn't that make it Nintendos license? regardless what studio developes it?

Nintendo published it in America and Europe, but it was a game that Enix published in Japan and had no interest in localizing themselves. Really not uncommon, as Nintendo brought over quite a few JRPGs over the years. It doesn't mean that Nintendo owns the IPs though.

Basically what Rol said here. Illusion of Gaia was the sequel to Soul Blazer (Soul Blader in Japan), and was brought over by Nintendo through a licensing deal. A licensing deal does not transfer ownership, rather, it gives permission to the licensee to reproduce a property, and it will also usually specify what format(s) are permitted. If ownerships were transferred, well... both Square and Enix would have been up a creek by Nintendo publishing both Final Fantasy 1 and Dragon Warrior 1 in the USA. NIS would have had quite a few issues by having Atlus publish Disgaea, also...

Deals like this aren't uncommon. The prolific one in recent case that I can think of is Demons' Souls. Done by a 2nd party group by Sony Japan, Atlus USA licensed a version for over here. Even if Atlus wanted to, there's no way they could release a version for the 360 or Wii; they'd never be able to get the license amended to do so. And now, the same studio in Japan responsible for the first one is doing a sequel. There is a chance that Atlus USA will not be able to release this, should Sony choose to bring it out themselves. It's all a big mess, dealing with these things...

Anyway, subject itself. I don't think they're going to want to release a NSMBW2 this soon; the original is still selling spectacularly well. (In 2 weeks, it will join the elite 20 million sold club.) I'm going to side with a few of the others here that have suggested that a 3DS version is more in the makes, since it would help to sell those moreso than a sequel to a Wii game would help to sell more Wiis. They may do one in 2012, as sort of a final push for the Wii, but I don't think it will be a high priority for Nintendo.

They should be making YEARLY 2d mario games for the Wii, DS, and 3DS. After seeing the incredible sales pace of NSMB Wii last year, Nintendo needs to realize the potential that they've been missing.

EAD 4 should be forced to only make 2d Mario games. Pikmin 3 can be moved to a third-party studio. The next Mario should have new worlds and content, Giant Land, the Tanooki suit, online play, and princess peach as a playable character with finished skirt programming.

Realistically, though, we'll probably see Pikmin 3 and Wii Music 2 as the holiday titles of next year. Those both will have awful sales.

I don't think so. They are focusing on other games like Skyward Sword and not announced games.

I think the next NSMB will be on the 3DS, the Wii has enough 2D platformers.

Nothing would be more awesome than nintendo announcing NSMBwii2 at E3. While the first one is perhaps my favorite game on the wii, there's is still SO MUCH that could be done with the multiplayer (both locally and online). And ofcourse, there should really be a new super mario bros where you actually get to explore new worlds, unlike the two previous ones which re-uses the 8 ordinary ones.

There is never enough 2D platformers.

Beuli as usual your thread doesn't seem to go in a single direction. I almost got a laugh but not really. I know its not meant to be serious but I highly doubt NSMB:W2 will ever come Nintendo I think realized that giving the Mario games 2-5 years to sell I don't think they will release another on Wii. Though I must admit I was suprised by Galaxy 2's announcement.

But look how good NSMBW and MarioParty8 and other Nintendo titles continue to sell. Why would Nintendo flood the market with even more titles. I think NSMB will become like MarioKart and SmashBros recieving one new title every generation per console.

If they do release a NSMBW2 I will be extremely pissed as I would rather see Nintendo put that effort into Pikmin, StarFox, F-Zero or another new IP or existing IP.

I´m not sure a new 2D Mario every year would be a good idea...Nintendo should have a 2D Mario every generation, that much is clear, but every year?...nah, I think 2 or 3, at most, per generation (like it was on the NES).

I just don´t see good things coming, in the medium and/or long term , to games that have yearly releases.
